Earth Live 3D Flex 3 Review

By Rich Tretola | February 8, 2008

I recently did a review of Earth Live with members of the Discovery Channel and EffectiveUI who built the application. It is a very cool Flex 3 application utilizing the AWAY3D Flash Engine for 3D modeling of a globe which is the centerpiece of the application. I love seeing data in a multitude of presentations and this is certainly a sweet data visualization application.

The concept is that the user can add layers of data to a 3D model of the Earth and interact with it. It supports full rotation in multiple directions and multiple layers of data including video layered in the 3D space showing events like hurricane Katrina. It also allows you to share the globe you created by embedding some JavaScript in your site.

You can visit the application here and also read my full review over at InsideRIA.com.
