Paul Mitchell Editorial Director Lucie Doughty Creates Collection of Vintage Looks For Fashion Show Benefit for Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services

The Ritz-Carlton, Huntington Hotel & Spa hosted its annual fashion show fundraiser, benefiting Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services, a nonprofit education and treatment center for at-risk youth.

Paul Mitchell Editorial Director Lucie Doughty and a team of Paul Mitchell educators, and Future Professionals volunteered to create a collection of stellar hairstyles for the models that harkened back to images of Veronika Lake and Grace Kelly, always popular with celebrities on the Hollywood Runways.

The fashion show featured Los Angeles designers from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, representing Los Angeles’ diverse neighborhoods: Octavio Carlin, Sterling Capricio, Maggie Barry, Samora, and Yana K.

Doughty and team- Noogie Thai, Eric Jansson, Ashley Bauer, Tera Moore and Jason Becker-complimented the svelte suits, dripping gowns and old Hollywood leisure wear with Veronika Lake inspired waves and off-kilter buns.

Look #1: Veronika Lake on Parade

Follow the steps below to recreate the hairstyle:

1.  Blow out hair with Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam ^TM.
2.  Use ½ inch curling iron and take horizontal sections from bottom to crown, spray Paul Mitchell Worked Up working spray on each section; wrap hair around iron; pin hair.
3.  Spray set with Paul Mitchell Hold Me Tight^TM finishing spray.
4.  When set cools, use Paul Mitchell 413 Sculpting Brush to push waves up and in.
5.  Seal look with Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Finishing Spray®.

Look #2: Off-Kilter Bun

1.  Blow out hair with Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam ^TM.
2.  Use Paul Mitchell 407 Styling Brush to gather hair and put into side-ponytail.
3.  Take pieces from ponytail and secure back at base with pins in a loose fashion.
4.  Seal look with Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Finishing Spray®.
