Short Hairstyle Icon Katie Couric

Short hairstye icon and famous TV journalist Katie Couric was quoted in Life & Style Magazine in the November 27th, 2006 issue as saying “lets face it, I’m not Pamela Anderson.Â I’m not so attractive it gets in the way of being taken seriously.Â But I do what I can with what I’ve got.”

Indeed, no one would ever confuse the mostly short hairstyle coiffed blonde with the blonde Pamela.Â Does Katie wear her hair short because of her desired to be taken seriously?Â It’s possible but will we ever know for sure?

Katie did cause quite a controversy in April of 2009 when she unveiled a short hairstyle that was a much shorter chop then her normal chin length bob short hairstyles.

Indeed, critics felt Katie went with the severe short hairstyle to help draw attention to her sagging news show.Â Did it help?Â Maybe, Katie is still in the anchor chair as we approach 2010.

Katie (Katherine Anne Couric) who was born January 7, 1957 became almost as well-known for her range of chic and edgy short hairstyles as she did for her work as co-host of NBC’s Today.

In 2006, she made a highly publicized move from NBC to CBS, and on September 5, 2006 she became the first solo female anchor of the weekday evening news on one of the three traditional U.S. broadcast networks.

Katie has taken her short hairstyle variations from super short to chin length and longer as her career has ebbed and flowed.

The widowed mother currently serves as the anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News, host of CBSNews.com’s weekly chat show @katiecouric and part-time contributor to 60 Minutes as well as anchor for prime time news specials for CBS News.

The short hairstyled journalistic recently appeared on Ellen Degeneres for a friendly chat.Â Katie and Ellen were in perfect sync since both famous blondes are currently wearing super short hairstyles.

Hi HB,

Katie Couric will always have a bit of that cute pixie energy about her (I think at least) which will always allow her to wear a variety of darling short hairstyles, don’t you find?

My mother, in those amusing ways we display when we get used to something and then (gasp!), it changes, was a New Yorker and remembered when Couric came on the news scene as a brunette. My mother had thought this was marvelous in contrast to all the (at the time at least) women journalists being sort of ubiquitously blonde. And then… Couric went blonde, too! My mother was gravely disappointed. However, lol, she did keep watching as a devoted fan.

I think Couric looks darling, and many of us need to go a bit blonde as we age (cough, cough gasp) because it creates a soft look about our face. Don’t you think so?

One of the attributes I most admire, here is Couric, no spring chicken as my mom used to say. I so appreciate that you provide a TON of celebrity hair styles and MANY for women (and men) over 40, over 50, and even over 60 so we all can continue to look OUR best and look FABULOUS as we age and go through the different decades.
