Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has split with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.  Nicole, who was photographed on the sidelines with the British racing driver scored his Formula One world championship in 2008, ended the two year relationship which began in 2007.

Lewis, 25, and Nicole, 31, have said through their spokesperson that they are going to focus on their careers.  Their official word is  “they have decided to go their separate ways. They want to focus fully on their careers and will remain close friends.”

Hamilton will be focusing on an uphill battle to win back the F1 crown he won in 2008 while Nicole, who once referred to Hamilton as her “soulmate” is focusing on her solo performance career.   She is busy planning a new solo CD with Pharrell Williams and pursuing other acting roles.

The couple first met at the MTV Europe Awards in November 2007 in Munich.  At the time he first laid eyes on Nicole the F1 driver told the media he was a “besotted schoolboy”.   In spite of crazy schedules the couple were seen together at Grand Prix races all over the world.  Hamilton would also show up at her shows.

Many believed that Nicole and Lewis would marry due to the fact she bonded so tightly with his family.  Mr. Anthony Lewis, father of Hamilton called Nicole “one of the family.”  The couple started having problems in the Fall of 2009 when it was rumored that Lewis didn’t want to settle down and wanted to continue to have his freedom.

Lewis dated Grenadan beauty queen Vivian Burkhardt before Nicole and the performer split from actor Talan Torriero in 2007.
