Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney will be announcing his official run for the presidency on Thursday.  I’ve always had a special interest in Mitt, not because of my political views, but because he was a friend of my brother-in-law (Gordon Thayer) who went to Cranbrook Schools with the famous Mormon.

My mother-in-law once told me of a time where Gordon and Mitt were hanging out and somehow there was a weird mishap where Gordon’s thumb landed in Mitt’s eye.  There were no hard feelings, it was an accident, but I always remember that story of Gordon and Mitt when I hear any news about the former governor.

I also love how Mitt is going gray gracefully.  He looks amazing with his hint of gray throughout the temples.

Now that he’s planning on making a second run for the presidency, Mitt Romney 2.0, the former CEO is trying to show the fun side of his personality.

Hair-salon operator Regis Corp (RGS.N) undertook a management shakeup on Thursday, February 3, appointing current Chief Financial Officer Randy Pearce as President, to replace Chief Executive Paul Finkelstein.

Finklestein, who has spent 23 years with Regis, will remain as Chairman and CEO through 2011 and will transition to the role of Executive Chairman in 2012.

Brent Moen — currently Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller — will take over from Pearce as CFO, the company said in a statement.

Regis, which operates the Vidal Sassoon and Supercuts chains, has been witnessing sluggish sales as shoppers spend less on hair cuts and personal grooming amid an uncertain economic environment.

Shares of the Minneapolis-based company closed at $17.06 on Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange.

OK Magazine does this part in the reality TV world by posting polls.  They recently asked their readers if the feuding Bachelor couple Jake Pavelka and/or Vienna Girardi would be enjoyable to watch on the new ABC Bachelor Pad.  They asked if people wanted to see Just Jake, Just Vienna or Neither.

You guessed it.  70% of the respondents said they didn’t want to see either Jake or Vienna because they both boring.

Although Jake is scheduled to visit The Bachelor Pad many people may just fast forward through his televised visit.  I know I’m going to.

Note to ABC – you may want to consider cutting out Jake’s segment to avoid losing viewers.

Ouch!  Supposedly the reason Jake and Vienna had an atomic meltdown on ABC recently was because they were both jealous of each other’s budding careers.

Does winning an Oscar for Best Actress bring a marital curse?  First there was talk that Kate Winslet and her husband were divorcing and now there is the news that recent Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James, has publicly admitted to involvement with another woman although he does not admit to an affair.

West Coast Choppers CEO, Jesse James. told People magazine he used “poor judgment” and asked his family to “forgive me.”

Jesse’s apology follows recent claims from tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee that she allegedly had a year-long affair with the Monster Truck man while the beautiful Sandra was on location making “The Blind Side.”  Ms. McGee has told the media she has the sex filled text messages to prove all of her claims against Mr. James.
