Breakfast at Charly’s

I wasn’t sure I’d ever see the day but on Sunday he will be signing the lease to his new apartment and he will no longer be living with mom. He and his now fiance will cohabitate in a place they are totally responsible for financially. I wish him well. He just turned 33 and it’s past time. His fiance can now apply for a fiance visa (no, not the card–I had no idea they had visas for foreign fiances [she's Canadian]) and hopefully get a permit to work. Anything would be a good supplement to their income and they’ll need it. They can move along with the immigration paperwork and eventually get married.

I think it will be strange for my mom to be alone in that big house after that and I think that has been a little push to get her more enthusiastic about getting on with things. She tried to talk me into moving in with her but I will not pull Iain out of this school district since they’ve been fabulous with him and although the house is really big just for her, it’s too small for three adults and three children. It’s bad enough sharing a bathroom with five here. Add another with only one bathroom and I think I might have to shoot someone. Plus there wouldn’t be enough privacy and certainly not enough bedrooms.

He said that he’ll work on cleaning up the basement (where he currently resides) and will help with heavy things or whatever if we need it. He’s being a big boy now and that’s pretty cool.
