MJ was a defining musician in my life, and my favorite, Bon Jovi, is another. This is a great track, available for download for FREE, specially recorded as a show of solidarity for the people of Iran. Andy Madadian, an Iranian singer, travels to LA to do this tune with Jon and Richie. A super rendition of a classic track.

Awesome stuff. This was recorded a day before MJ’s passing. Did all of us do our part to stand by MJ when he was alive or only now we realized our regrets? I admit I had a couple of posts on this blog, taking the mickey out of MJ, but I always felt he is never guilty of anything, except for being very naive believing that everyone is good. RIP MJ.

My first taste of music as a 7 year old was THAT renowned Grammy Awards cassette – that had “Beat It”, “Billie Jean”, “Uptown Girl”, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “Let’s Dance”, “Every Breath You Take”, “Karma Chameleon”, “Flashdance – What a Feeling” on the album.

That’s where my love for MJ commenced - “Beat It” & “Billie Jean”.

MJ Legacy

I recalled how my late dad had the “Thriller” cassette, and how I perpetually listened to the whole album and for some reason, my favorite song off the album back then was “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”.

I remembered attending some event for children in 1987 (can’t recall what event), but I definitely recall dancing to a Michael Jackson song all on my own in front of everyone. It was a spontaneous moment. I clearly can recollect a lady (I was 10), asking me to marry her jokingly – and then keep saying she wished I was older? LOL!

moonwalker

I remembered how I hotfooted to a friend’s house (he had the largest TV set in the neighbourhood) to join a big group of children and adults and catch the debut of MJ’s music video – “Bad”.

I think there were 2 memories in 1988, once during my primary school prefects’ gathering, I sang “Man in the Mirror” solo, and another, dancing in a group of 4 in front of strangers at Central Market KL to “The Way You Make Me Feel”.

mjmoon

I remembered how in 1991, when I first heard “Black or White” on the radio, and pestered my mom to get me the “Dangerous” cassette as an early Christmas gift – I even accompanied her to Lot 10 Salem Power station to buy it!

kop

Fast forward to 1997, I went to Langkawi with my then girlfriend, and another couple. We were having boozing and chilling, typical Langkawi fun, and at night we drove to Sheraton Langkawi to a pub there. When “Blood on the Dancefloor” unexpectedly came on, I took the stage again and danced like there’s no tomorrow, when the tune ended, everyone in the pub clapped. Either they were enjoyed it or happy that it was over. LOL.

Every single memory there continued my love for music, with Michael Jackson being the catalyst.

RIP MJ. The LAST LEGEND on Earth. No other musician will ever come close to you, even the ones in the past. You did what Elvis and the Beatles didn’t really achieve, uniting the world, different races, religion and ages. We were blessed by your presence.

TRAGIC Michael Jackson had been working on a new song with his three young children – and said they were “The Jackson Four”, sources close to the family revealed last night.
Jacko began writing the number – titled River Ripple – after a day spent playing traditional games with son Prince Michael, 12, daughter Paris, 11, and six-year-old Prince Michael II – nicknamed Blanket.
Family fun … Jacko with Prince and Paris on Hallowe’en
He had been hoping to perform the emotional ballad with an African choir on the final nights of his 50-date concert run in London.
The superstar singer – who first shot to fame as a child performing with his brothers in The Jackson Five – had talked excitedly about the project with various friends and aides.
And yesterday, as an astonishing set of unseen photographs emerged showing the family together, one pal showed The Sun a copy of the unfinished lyrics.
They include the chorus, “Ripples in my River; Flow on, Child, flow free; Love is King, we waded in; You three, you three and me.”
Jacko, 50, told the insider he decided to write the song after his children moved him to tears by singing “like Earth Angels”.
River Ripple is now set to join more than 200 unreleased songs – with titles including “Children’s Hour” and “In the Valley” – as a money-spinning legacy for the kids.
The insider told The Sun: “Michael had always wanted his children to be passionate about music and dance.
Thrill … star in T-shirt with snap of himself
Adventure
“But he wanted them to love music for its own pleasure – not feel forced into performing like he felt he was.
“Michael’s oldest son Prince sings beautifully and all three children love to dance.
“It had long been Michael’s wish to write a song with his children – he joked about ‘The Jackson Four’.
“He said River Ripple is all about unconditional love, the sort that binds families and gives them courage.
“It was also Michael’s wish that his sons and daughter feel part of his London gigs – that the event be a family adventure.
“I don’t think he intended to bring the children on stage with him, but Michael wanted to announce to the crowds that his kids had helped him to write a song.
“If he had been alive and well enough to pull it off, it would have been incredibly moving.”
Jacko’s pal Dr Deepak Chopra yesterday said the star was enjoying a productive song-writing period – and rang him two days before his death to tell him about another song.
Spiritual adviser Dr Chopra said: “He called me in an excited mood. The voice message said, ‘I’ve got some really good news to share with you’.
“He was writing a song about the environment and he wanted me to help informally with the lyrics, as we had done several times before.
“When I tried to return his call, the number was disconnected so I never got to talk to him.”
Family spokesman Brian Oxman said the Jacksons had gone into “lockdown mode” to shield the children from the fallout of their father’s death last Thursday night.
He said: “I spoke to (Michael’s brother) Jermaine just now and the children have spent the day at their grandmother’s home, playing.
“The one thing Michael wanted was to give his children a childhood he didn’t have – full of laughter and games.
Party time … Jacko in wig with Al Malnik, guest and Nancy
“But they are set to inherit the storm, the craziness, the custody battles, the huge debt.
“It would have been the very last thing Michael wanted. It would have torn him apart.
“Michael made sure they had the best private tutors money could buy – they are incredibly smart, well educated children.
“His eldest son is helping the others as best he can. The family have gone into lockdown mode to protect them.”
A family friend yesterday released the amazing set of private photos showing Jacko in his everyday world – and being a doting dad to his children.
One snap from a birthday bash shows Prince and Paris wearing party hats standing beside their dad, who is cradling baby Blanket.
Grinning
Another, taken at a Hallowe’en party, shows Prince dressed up as a skeleton and Paris as Cinderella.
The photos were taken in 2003 by Nancy Malnik, wife of millionaire celebrity lawyer Al Malnik, after the couple struck up a close friendship with Jacko.
Nancy yesterday posted the pictures on a Facebook page set up in tribute to the late King of Pop.
The Malniks’ triplets are shown playing happily with Prince and Paris – destroying the myth that Jacko’s kids have been leading a life in isolation that prevented them interacting with other children.
In one snap the grinning superstar appears wearing a red T-shirt with a 1980s image showing him in his “Thriller” album days emblazoned across the chest.

Another shows Jacko at a 1970s theme party held to mark Al Malnik’s 70th birthday.
Jacko – wearing a huge afro wig and diamante-encrusted military style jacket – is pictured with the Malniks and another party guest.
Nancy also posted photos of Jacko during a trip to a local supermarket, where he is shown dancing around with shoppers and posing with fans.
The Jackson family fear that Debbie Rowe, 50 – mum of Jacko’s two eldest children – will try to take them away in what could become the most expensive child custody battle in history.
She had Prince Jnr and Paris during her three-year marriage to Jackson in the nineties.

Mr Oxman said the family would let Debbie spend time with her kids – but would not allow her to “tear the family apart” by separating them from little brother

MJ was in the process of writing a new song with his 3 children before his untimely demise . The song, “River Ripple” speaks of unconditional love for his 3 children – Prince Michael, Paris, Prince Michael II.

“Ripples in my River; Flow on, Child, flow free; Love is King, we waded in; You three, you three and me.”

MJ has over 200 unreleased songs in his vault. Sigh. I hope that his duet with Akon, recorded last year, called “Hold My Hand” gets to see the light of day real soon, because it’s simply MJ at his best.

I don’t know if most of you were aware of this, as I only found out on Friday. MJ did it in the music video of Smooth Criminal, and he re-enacted that famous “lean” in his concerts too, where his music videos came to live.

Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal Lean

Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal Lean

I always thought there were some “strings” involved in the action, though it didn’t make sense at all. Then I found out, it’s actually a patented system, co-invented by Michael Jackson himself.

A system for allowing a shoe wearer to lean forwardly beyond his center of gravity by virtue of wearing a specially designed pair of shoes which will engage with a hitch member movably projectable through a stage surface. The shoes have a specially designed heel slot which can be detachably engaged with the hitch member by simply sliding the shoe wearer’s foot forward, thereby engaging with the hitch member.

1. A system for engaging shoes with a hitch mans to permit a person standing on a stage surface to lean forwardly beyond his or her center of gravity, comprising:
at least one shoe having a heel with a first engagement means, said first engagement means comprising a recess formed in a heel of said shoe covered with a heel slot plane located at a bottom region of said heel, said heel slot plate having a slot formed therein with a relatively wide opening at a leading edge of said heel and a narrower terminal end rearward of said leading edge, said recess being larger in size above said terminal end of said slot than is said terminal end of said slot; and
a second engagement means, detachably engageable with said first engagement means, comprising a hitch member having an enlarged head portion connected by a narrower shank portion to a means for raising and lowering said head of said hitch member above and substantially level with or below said stage surface, said head portion being larger in size than said terminal end of said slot and said shank portion being narrower than said terminal end of said slot, wherein said hitch member can be moved through apertures in said stage surface between a projecting position raised above said stage surface and a retracted position at or below the stage surface, and when said head portion of said hitch member is raised above said stage surface, said first engagement means can be detachably engaged with said projecting hitch member, thereby allowing a person wearing the shoes to lean forwardly with his or her normal center of gravity beyond a front region of said shoes, and maintain said forward lean.

I’m not sure if anyone heard of this song, taken from his last album, “Invincible”, where overall, it was a letdown by MJ’s high standards, but still packed a decent song or 3. Like this one, called “Speechless”.

Thank you for defining the music industry Michael, you will always remain a major influence in many music artistes, and through them, and your songs, your legacy will forever live on.

I wrote this last year.

Michael Jackson turns 50

He recently recorded a song with AKON, called “Hold My Handâ€. It’s music to the ears when jackson does what he do best. There are still no concrete news about his next album, but I know one thing for sure though, when MJ dies, a lot of us will be in mourning – me included.

RIP MJ (29 August 1958 – 25 June 2009)

RIP MJ (29 August 1958 – 25 June 2009)

:'-(

:'-(

I am extremely sad right now. Extremely. I am undecided whether to stop blogging for a week or to dedicate posts on MJ as a mark of respect. The world’s last remaining legend leaves us.
