Arguably, this is the BEST world cup ever though only 147 goals were shipped in. There were so many good games. The final between France and Italy was a befitting ending. Pity though old man Zidane suddenly went gaga and lost the plot. What a way to end a colorful career, red card in a world cup final for the most feebleminded act. Once that happened, I lost interest in supporting France, and didn’t care who won in the end.It was a 50-50 game that would’ve gone either way. I witnessed this game at the Curve Damansara last night. Thanks to Keropok, who managed to acquire some media passes for me to enter the VIP area where booze is free. Yes, that’s right, free booze – beer, red wine, white wine, whiskey. :-) And air-conditioned too! Got a free World Cup bag, binoculars and 2 chairs to take back with me. LOL!

Keropok, I’m definitely in the wrong line of work. LOL!GERMANY – Juergen Klinsmann left his critics eating humble pie after the team finished 3rd on the back of a magnetic marque of high-tempo attacking football. Germany finished as the top scorers of the tournament with 14 goals. Klose won the Golden Shoe award and Lukas Podolski won the Best Young Player award. I do hope Germany continue to move away from the robotic stereotype that has dogged Germany since God-knows-when. :-) What do we do now that the World Cup is over? Malaysian football anyone? Hahahaha! Auf Wiedersehen! A big thank you to those who have been reading my blog and commenting on it. Cheers!

We have the same problem here. but this time it is with the Italians BUT most of them cannot even name 5 of the starting 11. allon the bandwagon now and red, white and green and the colours of the week.

Still, controversial reffing decisions, shocks, controversy, all abounded. Another world cup come and gone

Another World Cup come and gone alright. I enjoyed it while it lasted, and of course was entertained…

But the final analysis will prove that this was once again a mediocre World Cup.

No new names emerging (except for Podolski and – for one match -Kosicky).

The champions returning to a domestic atmosphere mired in scandal.

Arguably the best team out at the q-finals (Argentina, not England!)

FIFA having to seriously clamp down on play acting and achieving a fine balance of on-match disciplinary action with sensibility in dishing out cards, whatever the colour.

And really, can we really say the best team won???

I cannot say the best team wonbut the better team on that won. Each teams needs a bit of luck be in in the draw and the officiating as they progress through the matches. Still in a while we shall forget about the negative aspects about Italy (well some more than others) and fire up for 2010.

Yes it is time for FIFA to review matches and discipline players who play-acted to gain decisions in their favour. We can see what has happened while watching TV so why can’t the officials hand out some punishment for the cheats. After a few suspensions, all the diving and play acting will be reduced.

Well, if this edition is only based on goals, then yes, it was a letdown. Personally, I still feel it’s the niftiest WC in recent times.

Podolski have yet to irrupt, in my opinion, they had no choice but to award the young player award to him instead because Ronaldo’s diving excursions.

Sometimes, the best team do not win. We all know that. It’s the ones that are man enough to take the bull by its horns. Peckerman foundered. And yes, luck does play a part.

I believe the clampdown on fouls by referees have backlashed, with quite a number of players leading the oscar nominations for best actor/actress. :-) Having said that, I feel all the argy-bargy are part of the game that we love. As much as I would love having tele replays, I think it’ll only make footie a numb spectacle.

Daniel, you putting those binoculars to good use???

I was at Laundry, Curve on that night. Seriously fake Italian supporters all over. This one girl actually told my friend she hates France cuz the Italian guys are so cute! I was like ‘HUH?!’

Another 4 year to go .. sigh ..

I think C. Ronaldo is okay… well, dont hate the player, hate the game

keropok Not yet. Was thinking of starting a voyeur site. What say you? LOL

sunil Agreed. I was there briefly too to meet up with some friends before ditching the scene for free booze with keropok. Haha! The “Italian fans” were as fake as Pamela Anderson’s boobs. Bloody English supporters in disguise. Hahaha! Surprised that you didn’t noticed a DEUTSCHLAND fan amongst the crowd. :-)

drama diva No No No. I unquestionably love the game. :-) Ronaldo is still a drama queen to me. Such a waste of talent. I don’t wanna “dive” into details, but would’ve had my vote for the YOUNG PLAYER AWARD if not for the oscar performances.

lol all of your comments are funny. I personally think WC 2006 had many good games so far, let aside the acting, diving and crying.

I hope you see me as a real italian fan, but if you don’t, never mind. ‘Cuz I know I am, that’s more important to know who you are and where’s your stand.

Being a real fan of Italia is not easy, like me struggling to rejoice even Italia won! Yes I was so flying high happy about the win a few hrs before i go to bed. But while I look back on the match and did a bit of research on WC, man I am too embarrased of what the dirty player did!

Fabio Cannavaro earn a lot of respects from me, i am sure it’s the same to a lot of italia fans as well. Look at him, he could manage to lead the team til the final match in the midst of scandalism. It’s definitely not an easy job. Moreover his tacklling is almost 100% accurate! Pls don’t count on the first penalty to French, you know who that was. I can also be superWOman in the field!

And not forgetting Pirlo, yes, not handsome but another extraordinary good midfielder. Gattuso, Toni, Totti, Del Piero, Grosso (WAH, very famous) but it’s very sad to see Nesta not playing in the field. He is also one of the players I look up to. Probably, the disgrace acts would not happened if he was in playing and thus no replacement of YOU KNOW WHO. I did wonder why wasn’t Filipo Inzaghi in, sitting on the bench was no fun leh. I think all of us know scoring goal is not a one-man job lah.

Hey, was my comment long enough? Can I beat Dabido or not? I think I can only write long when there is anything to do with the blue azzurris.

Errr…I think i missed out someone equally important in the team yah? haha…still want me to mention about Gianluigi Buffon? Awww… please dont. I am afraid I will go on and on. God forbids idolotary.

Ok, me yet to recover from Worldcup withdrawal sydnrome.

Nice pics dude..hahaa..distracting my reading :P

World cup is now gone…feel so bored now..no more late nites of footy action :(

Another Germany fan! Woo! :)

It has been an incredible tournament but all good things must come to an end..

Thanx for coming to my site :)

meekiee Yes, I do see you as a true Italian fan, as I’ve been keeping up to date with your ramblings. :-P Cannavaro was superb – the only flaw is he’s not German. LOL!

As for the dodgy penalty, well, that Malouda dude could really fly. :-) Having said that, there was a good penalty call for France in the second half, so I guess it balances itself out.

I don’t rate Grosso at all. Buffon, Cannavaro and Gattuso gets my vote! Yes, it’s a shame what happened to Nesta. But that’s football. ;-) Thank you for sharing meekiee. Now let’s talk about making Italian pizzas, shall we? LOL

footy Yes, the pics are there for one purpose only, more hits. A cheap publicity stunt that never fails! Hahahaha!

sha Deutschland indeed! It’s been a super World Cup. I’m extremely disappointed about Klinsmann’s departure though I can’t blame him. It was only 2 months ago when he was heavily criticised for everything. I just hope that the next manager will be able to continue the good work Klinsi has brought in. Bring on LOTHAR MATTHAUS!

it is good to read some of you stuff here, but personally i thought there were more people jumping on the french bandwagon than anything. in fact it irritates me so much that i thought, this time ‘die’, italy lacks that spiritual togetherness from the whole world, u know what i mean.

i think the italians played well, and should everything fell into place, it should have been a true blue match win for the italians, i think la. there were some cool dribble from gilardino and several direct shots too.

yeah, they did loosen up in the earlier part of the second half. it was a wee bit worrying. i think france did nto fare that well, but they did rise to the occasion by full time.

i hv all the respects for the whole team really even for materazzi. well, the butting incident is just one of those and incidentally it involves someone who has wide media coverage.

if u play futball, u should know, players curse players, what’s the big deal.

personally, i thought d italians will get hell once into penalties, but i guess they learnt their lessons from previous outings, so i am glad they did well.

judging frm how they classically defeated the germans, the margin with ukraine, devastating the czechs and the record of goals conceded (if any), i think they kinda deserve it …la. france played cool, they r good too, but from the many penalties that they obtain to reach the finals….emmm, okla.

hey..nice reading yr post plus the many babes posted. i hv never seen that many babes covered during the WC, not even The Star…nice. lol.

keatix Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I don’t know about the French bandwagon dude…there were definitely 70% overnight Italians when I was at the Curve (that’s underestimating).

In my previous posts, I mentioned, the winner of Germany vs Italy would probably go on to lift the cup. Still though, I thought it was a 50-50 game that could’ve gone either way. If France had won, we’d probably wouldn’t hear Zidane’s saga as much as we do now.

I agree on the cursing bit, players do curse, but sometimes, there are boundaries. If someone comes up to me with a racist remark like that, I can’t guarantee that I wouldn’t have done the same. In the end, we are all human, unless if you support the English. LOL!

Both teams took their penalties really well – it could’ve gone either way. If that scenario is repeated 10 times, will the outcome be the same? :-)

As for the babes, you can’t compare me with theSTAR ler, they’re tabloid. LOL!

yo bro, people comparing you with the star? lol you are not governed by any censorship board la … hahaha

thats explains the missionary position on the last pic …

earl-ku No no, I’m not owned by BN thank you very much. ;-)

That “missionary” photo is to remind us of what Italians are capable of, screwing themselves. LOL!

haha that ‘missionary pic’ did u get that from my blog ehehhe? anyways… I really wanted Germany all the way to the finals but sigh… Klinsmann left :( and they rate 9th at FIFA ranking.. and england 5th? wtf lah wei!? hahaha
my second choice team was obviously, Italy.. and i couldn’t like sleep until 7am after world cup just because the excitement.. despite they had one of the best actors in their team hahaa.. cannavaro deserved his silver ball but winning golden ball would have been icing on the cake for italians… he deserves mucho respectos for being a wonderful captain without any bookings… here’s to World Cup 2006 and I’m making pizza for my friend’s bday today.. wanna share the recipe? hehe
and oh, thanks for keeping us entertained ya?

lex Yes, I did. I was beagling the internet for pics until I overlooked my sources. A belated thanks and acknowledgement is due. As Ranjit of Mind Your Language would say, “A thousand apologies..”

I was confabulating among my mates and we agreed that Germany-Italy or Germany-Argentina should’ve been the final. England are 5th? LOL! It’ll keep ‘em happy for the next 4 years. ;-)

I think there is still a chance of Cannavaro winning the golden ball as recent reports suggest that if FIFA get their way, Zidane will be stripped off the title.

Thanks for coming by Lex, what garnishes are you using for the pizza, kryptonite? :-)

Hello Daniel,
thanks for commenting on my blog! About “robotic stereotype” – well, still in the first week of the games the German press (especially the biggest tabloid BILD) bashed Klinsmann and his new style of playing as “too dangerous” – not literally, but barely cloaked. His critics got stuffed with every goal got – but as Joachim Low is the mastermind behind the new strategy I’m pretty sure the boys in white and black will carry on with it. But the tabloids will carry on as well, now that Klinsmann is gone.

Dan,
it’s not everyday that you’ll get to see a chick lugging around a yellow coloured folding chair with her. My, the walk to the car (parking) was quite a distance, passing through an escalator somemore :-P . The next morning, I went to my office sporting a pair of panda eyes!
