The fundamental part of being a man, is to be able to shave your face. It’s the epitome of manhood. If you don’t have facial hair, I’m sure you have given a thought of becoming a transvestite at some point in your life.
I’ve been shaving for as long as I can remember. Been having this goatee since 1997. I’m a huge share holder for Gillette, the Mach 3 blades and now have added Venus shavers to preserve my botak head, once every 2/3 days.
Please don’t save moolah on blades and foam. Splurge and get the best, else you’ll have chafed skin and razor bumps. Get a quality blade, and swap the foam with shaving gel. I don’t think you need to rob a bank for this.
For a cleaner shave, dowse your face in hot water for a moment to soften your stubbles, and apply gel while it’s soft. Don’t hold back on the gel please, because it helps reduces abrasion.
I normally concentrate on the side of the face area first because they’re the easiest. Then I move on to the upper lip and chin regions. By leaving the tricky spots until later, it gives the gel plenty of time to soften the stubs. Don’t hack away like your face is a tree. Hope this helps. ![]()
P/S: Don’t go shaving against the grain, as you’ll suffer from ingrown hair and possible infection. Though it’s smooth, I suggest you shave with the grain a few times.

hahaha – practice makes perfect, after shaving for almost 10 years, i can now shave even when the mirror is totally fogged up … haha
shave after a shower, as by then there is enough moisture to open up all ur pores, hence an easier shave … start by going with the grain twice and finish up with a clean single stroke against the grain …
i do not believe in shaving foam, for me its nivea facial scrub, the foam from the face wash is even foamier and richer than the gilitte shaving foam …
and buy some good after shave, i am using this after shave from body shop, with some kinda nut oil priced at 5 times the price of the normal gilette after shave, which makes ur face super smooth … expensive but worth it …

simon Hahahaha! I remember that we were not allowed to shave during secondary, some bizarre ruling the school had. PS – I had my first complete goatee when I turned 19.
miccobayb LOL. You’re welcome. Good luck. Hehehe!
earl-ku That is true. People always ask me how do I get a perfect goatee (like one Singaporean cab driver 2 weeks ago), and I said, practice. Shaving foam doesn’t work – but shaving gel does.

dude!!!
i remember the ruling abt not shaving in secondary school.. WHAT RUBBISH!!!!
i’ve been shaving since i was in form 2.. it’s something that i HAD to do..
my thoughts on the shaving blades are a little diff though..
i use the kind where u can replace the blades… those u find the older barbers use.. and a straight blade to tuck in the corners..
been down the funky gillete path with mach 3 and sorry la.. it just wasn’t designed for indian men..
=P

Wow, turning into a “beauty” expert oledi?

vickna Why was there such a STUPID ruling? Wow, old school shaver.
cindy LOL, just doing my bid to help to male population. Hehe!

Ah… a Gillette Mach 3 man. Turbo or non-Turbo version? Me prefer the Turbo version. And after using it, I swear I will never go back to that 2-blade Gillette of years ago,
There’s a green coloured version out now (the red Ferrari version is pure greed at work, cashing in on the F1 craze), and it comes with a battery. They put a vibrator in the stem? Costs RM45 each so I did not buy one, yet. Any comments on that?
BTW Schick has a 4-blade razor out for some time. Costs the moon.

Wombat I’m using the Mach 3 Power version with the vibrator. The vibrator works as I noticed I need not repeat my shaves like before. But the Ferrari thing was a tad too much. A 4-blade razor may be a little OTT I think. You gonna give Schick a try?
