Mariah Carey feat T-Pain – Migrate

When I heard Mariah Carey’s new album, E=MCÂ², for the first time, I kinda enjoyed it. But, when I heard it for the second time, I quickly got bored of it. Why? Because of it’s mid-tempo songs – very similar-sounding. The album kinda continues in the same vein as her previous album.

Album opener, personally, the best track, “Migrate”, a hip hop floor mover, starts the album off with a bang, but then it quickly gets monotonous. Nevertheless, it is a measured mix of R&B, dance, pop and old-school expressions .

Like it or not, Mariah Carey is technically empowered with her voice, and in some cases, she flaunts her lower notes, though it’s not flattering, it emotionally hits the right spot. Other recommended tracks include, “Cruise Control”, “I Stay in Love”, “Side Effects”. 4/10 on the Gallivanter’s Scale.
