The beat lets down this catchy track. It sounds more like an acoustic reggae session when all the song needed was a heart-pumping beat and even a cameo from a Ragga artist to further add spice instead of a third-rate sounding dude. If Karl Wolf only pushed it a little more. Coulda woulda. DOWNLOADÂ Karl Wolf [...]
This is a catchy reggae version of Van Morrison’s hit, “Brown Eyed Girlâ€. It does not embarrass the original as Steel Pulse delivers a pumping reggae version which remains one of my favorite remakes of all time. Brilliant. DOWNLOAD 1997 : Steel Pulse – Brown Eyed Girl (Mp3)
Hey! Ma-til-da; Ma-til-da; Ma-til-da, she take me money and run a-Venezuela. I love songs by Harry Belafonte and this one was surely a catchy calypso track called Matilda, cheeky music and a testament to good music in the 50s. I would like to see a reggae pop band releasing this as a dance pop tune, [...]
I just heard a number of love ballads by Che’Nelle, which mostly were boring. However, I am rather impressed with her vocals but not in a Mariah Carey way. Che’Nelle can sing and she delivers a Rihanna-like vocals in a slow reggae-dominated tune. DOWNLOAD Che’Nelle – For You Mp3 6/10
Shaggy stripped down of pop genre and embraces reggae, the fun kind of reggae. I can imagine myself dancing to this one on some island paradise while the sun sets into the horizon. Catchy and definitely must be accompanied with alcohol for that next level of spirituality. DOWNLOAD Shaggy – End Of The World (Drink Up) [...]
The album’s called “Summer in Kingstonâ€, very apt looking at the songs that Shaggy has unleashed this time, nothing but island fun that makes you wanna dance all night until the break of dawn. Shaggy captures the fun of island like really well with the album, stripping away the commercial elements leaving the reggae in [...]
This is a catchy track, an indie pop, and a throwback to alternative songs when the genre first came out – all about fun and being silly. I heard the whole album and this track is the motherload of it all, trumpets and all. It’s nice to know that songs like these are released every [...]
Simple Plan’s lead singer has one of the most annoying voices in the music business. Their new album is just a waste of space, like the band itself. A bunch of simpletons. Lots of noise, no direction, aimless album! However, there’s a silver lining, in the form of a K’Naan featured reggae-themed track, “Summer Paradiseâ€. [...]
This is the closest Shaggy has been to commercial reggae with less pop influence. I’m really digging the chorus, “She likes the taste of my sugarcane†– another innuendo from Shaggy who has been struggling to reach the heights of his stardom in the early 2000s. Nevertheless, I like this track. DOWNLOAD Shaggy – Sugarcane Mp3 [...]
I’ve listened to her new album, and I think this is the best song off it. It’s a very laid-back reggae-influenced track and the chorus just makes it all worthwhile having this in your list of feel-good songs. I hope for Rachel Platten’s sake, her new album have some commercial success because I think it’s [...]
