Her Blog Directory is a free directory of blogs written by women. Submit your blog for free to the blog directory. Her Blog Directory also accepts blog post submissions using the 'article' link.

Unlike a 'network' requiring daily participation. Her Blog Directory simply provides bloggers an online venue to list their blogs to potential readers.

There is no cost for personal blogs. Business blogs run by female entrepreneurs can list their blog for just $25 a year.

Search Tools for your Blog - Lijit

This morning I encountered a new blogger on the internet named Greg Hollingsworth. A political and social issue blogger from the USA writing Devil in the Details . His Blog layout is refreshingly simple, different, and easy to navigate. I picked up on this search area containing a widget by ‘Lijit’ and had to check it out.

I am not in need of yet another way to track stats as I like Google Analytics as it allows me to keep tabs on not just my own sites but that of my clients as well. However the search feature sounds promising

“install the Lijit Search Wijit on your blog to give readers the most relevant results from a source they trust. YOU.”

The sign up process allows you to pull all the information from your other Social network and blogging platforms so before you start be sure to sign up with the following services (should they be of interest to you) using the same User ID.

You will need to determine the placement of your widget on your blog. When creating your widget you will be asked what the pixel width should be.

I started using the lijit widget when I discovered that there are actually other people named Greg Hollingsworth on sites that I am on (LinkedIn, etc…) and I wanted to make sure that people were getting to my info and not his.

I don’t pay much attention to the analytics it provides (as I don’t really pay much attention to analytics), but it’s nice to get a little summation once a week.

Also, lijit just added a new feature called “Re-search” that adds a dropdown menu to your wijit. The dropdown menu only appears if someone comes to the site via a search engine.

When the dropdown is opened it displays other content of yours as well as a single google ad at the bottom. Research is optional (you can turn it off easily), but for some reason they have set it up to automatically opt you in.

So if you don’t want the ad to display make sure to go to your wijit settings on lijit.com and turn it off.
