Why is this the career choice for you?
Have you weighed all other options?
Is there seriously no other line of work that you feel you are suited for?

No, I’m not trying to sound like your mother, your father, or your preacher. But these are serious questions to ask, chiefly because of the social and moral ethos of 21st Century America.

You are going to have to prepare yourself for the following worst-case scenarios:

If you are prepared to live alone, with no support, to be used in a trade that only cares about your flesh and not about your soul – that is, if you feel that you are strong enough to be in this industry without falling prey to alcohol and drug abuse, abuse by producers and directors and people that call themselves managers – that is, if you are prepared to be strong enough to stand your ground no matter what – then we have a deal.

If not, it is best to not read any further. Not everyone is cut out for this. And that’s perfectly ok. It is a vicious industry with way more people vying for positions than are available. There are far better lines of work where people will honestly care about you and your well-being. You won’t be embarrassed when you are out on a date – moreover, when you decide to settle down and have children. You will be able to still speak with your family.  You won’t be looked upon as the Whore of Babylon and the Devil’s Spawn.
