Ok, yeah I am scared!
What Jake scared? Yes, I am for sure. As many of you know Jennifer and I have taken the step of faith to launch a new church called {epic} church.
We are excited yet nervous all at the same time. I guess the reasons for my nervousness really revolves around failing. Yes, that is right Jake Rasmussen is scared of failure. I am scared that we will start this new church and we won’t make a different for Jesus in Tucson and beyond.
You see people have come along side of us financially. We have a few partners who are giving money each month to help launch this new work and see the Kingdom of God expand. We want to to be faithful with theirprecious resources and faithful to God’s leading.
I also am scared that we will work hard at creating the “environment”but then with the time comes no one will show up. Gosh, this is hard to me to type out here on the internet yet freeing too. I desire to see Tucson a better place for sure….
Ok, more later but I get the blessing this morning of seeing a dear friend stand in front of a hundred people with her voice, guitar and willing spirit to lead people into the presence of Jesus with music.

What an awful experience! I am totally not kidding here either. This is like the 3rd time I came to this coffee house and it BITES!!!
I paid over $4 for a Chai that is a Medium and then I get it with a cup sleeve advertisting for a BRA!!! Yes, that is right a “The Smooth Bra” by Maidenform.
I am here at 5:40pm and the barista came up to me and just told me that they were getting ready to close at 6pm. WHAT? A coffee shop in urban east Tucson is closing before the daiylight is even gone. I am beside myself.
I normally wouldn’t rant about stuff like this but are you kidding me. This is crazy. Here I am the LOYAL Starbucks barista trying to support the local market and they mess me over like this.
I will go to my Safeway Starbucks before I come here again.
Ok, enough is enough. I will enjoy myself watching some American Idol tonight with some friends.
From the Herd:Â “Sponge Bob Bowl Flop”!
OUCH!!! Another hard BCS Bowl loss to a lower ranked team. It really wasn’t a game. But, me an emotional guy… I was yelling my head off one minute at OU Scores then almost crying the next because the next drive for WV was a touchdown.
Pregame hanging out with the Williams and others was a blast. Eating some hotdogs, burgers, SPICY Beans (Thanks Alvin for that).
Our seats were a testament that there isn’t a bad seat in the house. We were pretty high up… wait we were in the VERY LAST row. Weird because we bought our tickets within minutes of the announcement that OU was to go to the Fiesta Bowl. At least there wasn’t anyone sitting behind us.
Highlights:
Spending time with “the boys”. Being AT a BCS bowl game. Seeing OU play LIVE. Sleeping on the way home. Witnessing a fight 5 rows in front. (Kevin, this is the second fight I have seen with you in three game, we are 2 for 3) Watching the OU marching band dance to Michael Jackson “Thriller”.
Thank you David and Glenda for another bowl game experience. I wouldn’t trade it ever! Thank you for making this a tradition. I am extremely thankful.
Go Sooners!
