Final Thoughts on FCBD with NPR
So I’m driving home from the craziness of Free Comic Book Day, listening to Weekend America on NPR while cruising the 101N (yes I do listen to NPR, thank you very much). A story comes on about World Naked Gardening Day. It’s funny, interesting, and engaging.
But no such story came on about Free Comic Book Day.
C’mon. We’re way cooler than naked gardeners. Right?
Right?
Next year, let’s all do our part to push FCBD on *everyone* we know, especially media outlets! The more people who come, the more people will read comics! And isn’t that what FCBD is all about?
Surprises at Meltdown Comics
Inside Meltdown Comics was a booth for the creators of “Age of Insects,” an indie title about the rise of a parallel race of intelligent bipeds from the insect kingdom. They had huge cockroaches and a millipede on hand to help demonstrate what they’re talking about!
Also, J.M DeMatteis was signing!

My last stop of the day was Meltdown Comics on La Brea Avenue in LA. I’m greeted by a mob of people looking for good deals and some crazy vans advertising indie books. Life is good.

House of Secrets
My first stop of the day was House of Secrets in Burbank, CA, where things were a family affair. I talked to a five-year old named Sam–and by talked to him, I mean he hid behind his mom while I talked to her. Mom said Sam couldn’t wait to go to FCBD all week, and thought the whole idea was cool!
