Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
It’s hard to tell what the Verzio folks were thinking when they designed the TruePad T50. After coming out with pioneering 3G dual- SIM handsets and an impressive PDA phone, they’d have to be barking mad to debut a laptop that looks so last season. With a gun metal-gray finish, lots of hard corners, noisy DVD drive, and a springy hard—touch keyboard, the TruePad seems out to spark a retro revolution in the age of jet black and vibrant primaries.
The sad part is that, like a stand-up guy with a lousy fashion sense, the T50 looks so outdated it may never get the chance to prove what an honest-to-goodness mid-range laptop it really is. Its combination of Core 2 Duo CPU, IGB of RAM, and 120(JB HDD is more than enough to let you multitask comfortably The 14.1-inch glare-type screen displays vivid colors and sharp detail without causing eye strain, and incidentally turns out to be a classy saving grace to the TruePad’s passé styling. The Wi-Fi receiver is very reliable. The built-in speakers are not only powerful, they also deliver a fuller sound than most laptops in the T50’s class.

For all its old-fashioned design, it does have the size, attitude and specs that it needs to feel right at home in a traditional corporate setting. Perhaps, in building the T50, it was the norm-respecting “classic gentleman†that the Verzio designers had in mind in the first place.

Can’t part with your phone even when you’re in the bathroom? You’re in good company. About 75% of Americans admit they use their phones in the bathroom, according to a new study.
A report by marketing agency 11mark found that three in four people are texting, emailing and even talking on the phone while in the bathroom. In fact, about 25% of Americans said they always bring their phone into the restroom.
However, the survey — conducted among 1,000 Americans — revealed that Android users are slightly more likely to use their phones in the bathroom compared to other device owners. About 87% of Android users have used their phone while going to the bathroom compared with 84% of BlackBerry users and 77% of iPhone users.
I love books, especially old ones. Recently I learned a simple dinner table trick from a 110-year-old magic book. It involves picking up a napkin with both hands and, without releasing either corner, tying the napkin into a knot. Good fun and likely unavailable anywhere but in this very old tome. That fact, though, does not make me love ebooks any less or think that they somehow are a better long-term solution for the reading public. Celebrated author Jonathan Franzen thinks otherwise.
Author of The Corrections and Freedom, Franzen is revered for his prose, attention to detail and ear for the inner lives of sometimes desperate (and or depressed) people. I think his writing is excellent, but he is way off base on ebooks.

Samsung’s new run of television commercials is the start of a wider effort to make the company’s products the apple of the U.S. consumer’s eye.
The ads, which mock iPhone users for their obsession with Apple products, attempt to present Samsung as the smarter, cooler alternative. On a larger scale however, Samsung is hoping to create a fundamental shift in the way its products are viewed by consumers.Â
