Gambling ‘Robin Hood’ Wants to Help Needy Family

robinhood(MYFOX NATIONAL) – In these tough economic times, many families are facing unique financial challenges. And a modern-day Robin Hood wants to help.

The man who goes by “RobinHood702″ is a high-stakes blackjack player in Las Vegas who last year helped one family whose daughter’s battle with brain cancer put them $35,000 in debt. Now RobinHood702 wants to help another family.

“I’m looking for anyone that’s in debt … that needs some help,” he told Fox News . “I’m going to look for the story that’s really going to touch my heart. That’s it.”

The anonymous gambler is inviting people to share their stories on his Web site and plans to pick a lucky family sometime in the next two months.

”I’m going to look for the story that’s really going to touch my heart,” RobinHood702 said. “I have gone through a rough year myself, through personal tragedies in my family and financial difficulties, so I know what it’s like. But you know what? I’m still here and I still want to help a family, period. Nothing is ever easy for anyone, and I know that full well.”

Last year, RobinHood flew Kurt, Megan and Madison Kegler to Las Vegas first class, put them up in a luxurious hotel, treated them to expensive restaurants and spa treatments, and gave them $35,000 in cash to help them get out of debt.

This year RobinHood702 is being joined by Dr. Richard Schultze, a friend who said he was inspired by the Keglers’ story, who will help out a second family. He said he’s prepared to give “thirty, forty, fifty thousand dollars” to the family he chooses. “Whatever they need to save their home, to get out of debt, to get out of bankruptcy, I want to help someone out.”

Those hoping to get help from RobinHood and Dr. Schultze have posted their stories, videos and photos on RobinHood702′s Web site .

Hello Mr. Robinhood, I am 58yrs old and I have been disabled since 2004. I am on a fixed income. I live in a small 2bedroom house. The house is in a very bad area of old town. This house has been broken into once. I have a bad heart and many other disabling conditions. I have a significant other in my life and he does the best he can do. He has been working a full time job. He doesn’t make much at all. The old house we live in has many problems; such as sewage blockage; bad wiring; electrical problems; Cracks in the corners of the walls; rodents etc. My complaining doesn’t get any positive response. My partner tried to purchase a home for us. But we did not have the money for down payment or closing cost. If we could only get the money we could live confortable. So we are settling for this trap of a home. Would you please consider helping us to buy our home? I pray for a home before I leave this world and I give it to God to handle. But a friend of mine told me to write to you. So that’s why I am asking for $10,000 dollars to pay off debts and buy a home. Please let me know if you would help me? Thank you for reading my story.

I am Native American. My oldest son was in a car accident five years ago and now resides in a brain injury unit in Caronbondale Illinois. I can not ever afford to go to see him, and wish for him to come home. I talk to him on the phone though often. I work for Peace. Have been initiating a Peace event for over 15 years, volunteer. I can tell you more, but I dont want to advertise it on here, but will let you know in private. I have 5 acres gifted to me on my rez by a cousin that said if I needed to, to find a home for my son to bring him home. Right now, I live in a very small 3 bedroom trailer, sharing with 5 other people. I guess my dream is to get a home on that 5 acres and make a home, make a garden to survive, dry meat, be happy…. even a loan, if I go home I can get a job! thanks Paula

I am a divorced mother of 4: Jared-28; Molly-23; Tarah-18 and Benjamin-12. I was married for 19 years and was blessed to be able to stay at home. Unfortunatly that did not prepare me for the workforce I so needed to be in and be successful after my divorce. It was an abusive marriage and my children suffered alot … to much to go into here. I was able to get a job at McDonalds and worked my way up to assistant manager in about 2 years. My oldest 2 kids are out on their own and doing well. In 2006 I took a promotion and relocated our family. Due to situations from the divorce, what credit I had left was ruined. I had to take a bankruptcy. I have had one car after another, due to a lack of finances. I have to buy used and cheap and usually they have a life expectancy of 6 months. In September of 2008 I had a “pinhole stroke”. My close friends and my daughter became the major caretakers of me and my youngest son. I was declared disabled and could not go back to work. They had their hands full with my rehab and Benjamins learning challenges (high functioning autistic, epilepsy and several other issues). Since I could not work we have had to move to some affordable but poorly kept rental homes (the floor was sinking; rotten holes in the floor; raw sewage leaking in the crawlspace; and sever electrical problems…that was the last 2 homes we lived in). I have to be able to get around on a walker still but have progressed alot with my speech and right side issues. I wanted a better place for my family so I moved us again last May. It is a better house for us all but the rent is $800 a month, compared to what I was paying ($550) it was a leap of faith. I am fearing that I may have bit off more than I could handle. It is located across the street from my best friends and is great knowing I someone close to help if I need it. We love the area and my kids are doing well here. I don’t want to have to move them again ( we have moved over 10 times since I first got married to their dad). We are all TIRED of moving, we want to be stable and settled. I thought we were turning a corner by this move, I was wrong. Two weeks after the move our car died. I spent the summer running errands to the store on my little personal scooter. I also used it to go up to an empty lot all summer trying to sell rugs I make by hand. The wear and tear was to much for the battery and it needs to be replaced. I worked out an arrangement with my ex to get a car from him before winter. I gave up $1,300 a year was required to pay for medical co-pays in exchange for the car. We had that car for 1 month and the engine blew. So now we are totally transportaional dysfunctional…lol. My daughter, Tarah, has graduated this year and started a course this summer for medical assisting. She needs to get to another job to finish her clinicals. It is to far for her to walk. She has walked to all her classes and the first part of the clinicals. She has taken on a part time job and walks there too…it is 3rd shift at Walmart. I worry about her walking at that time of day. Ben is wanting to do more school ativiites and needs to be picked up afterschool. The bus route is to far for me to walk to on a walker and the taxi is expensive. We get rides when we can but it gets old asking and calling around all the time. I am on the waiting list for Section 8, I have been waiting for 1 year now. I have been to all the social agencies and gotten what help I can. I want to work and am in vocational rehab training now, I can do most of it at home. When I finish I will need a car to go pick up the jobs and bring them home to do. Tarah will be starting college in 01/2011. She is specifically taking classes that are offered close to our house, in case we don’t have a car by then.

I have not had the loss of a child, accidents or the other tragedies I have read about here. I have been blessed that my kids are here and are healthy. I feel awkward even asking for help. My family and I have struggled everyday with some issue. My kids have given up so much and so freely that I would like in some way to just be able to get on our feet and provide for them. They say my Section 8 application is coming up soon. When it does I have to have all the old bills paid off to be accepted. The home we are in now is willing to accept Section 8 and it will cut my rent almost in half. I would like to have an older, reliable car (old for insurance – so I can afford it with a teen driver in the house); I would like to be able to pay off the old debt so I can be accepted for Section 8; I would like to take my kids shopping for some new clothes; just to be able to have the neccessities to live.
We have lived without so much that it is a thrill just to get the normal stuff. We have not had hot water at times; we did laundry in the tub for a year; we have not had TV for almost 2 years. No one has died because of this and we won’t if we don’t have these things. I know I am not alone in these situations and am continually reminded of how bad it could be for us. I want to thank you for you time and consideration. Hopefully one day I will be able to “pay it forward” for all the help and kindness I have already recieved in my life. God Bless!
