Product Review ~ Menu in a Box

March 23, 2008 > 2 Comments

I recently received a copy of Menu in a Box. This is a meal planning kit that includes 20 weeks of menus, shopping lists, recipes, extra menus for parties, holidays, and a shopping list for kids.

First of all, I was very impressed by the quality of the product. It is easy to read, colorful, and does a great job of explaining how the program works.

The menus look awesome. The meals are healthy and sound delicious. There are very few run of the mill recipes in this menu plan. For example, one week the meals are; Asian Grilled Chicken and white rice, Beef Tacos and salad, Veggie Pasta and salad, Chicken Risotto, and Egg and Bacon Pie, garlic bread, and salad.

Each week you take the menu plan and shop your pantry and freezer for items you already have. (there are lists for this) Then you shop at the store for the remaining items. The recipes are simple and easy to follow, with many having less than five steps. The recipes serve 4, so you can double them if necessary.

What I like about this program is that it takes the guess work out of dinner. Everything is done for you except the shopping and the cooking, of course. I believe that many people spend extra money on eating out and convenience food because they do not have a menu plan for the week. While the meals in this program might be a little more expensive than beans and rice, if you are the type of person who has trouble planning weekly menus this program will definitely save you time and money.

Because you have 20 weeks of menus, if you see a great deal on something that you know is coming up in your menu you can stock up.

If you want to learn more about Menu in a Box you can check out their website. You can even download a menu to see for yourself.

Ooh!! I am all over this!! Thanks for the recommendation! Making a menu plan is so hard for me, and it is almost impossible to budget without one. Looks like a great solution! (Why didn’t I think of it first….?)
