I hope all of you from Lara’s blog are not sick and tired of my home makeover posts. It is really taking up most of my time, so that is what I am talking about!
The school room was the next room I decided to tackle in our new house. After painting six rooms, I couldn’t let the school room stay white, how boring!
. I struggled to pick a color though, because it had to coordinate with the rest of the downstairs, so I finally ended up using the same color as the family room. I already had the paint, so I thought it was a frugal choice.

The school room is also the room next to our driveway, so we enter and exit the house through the door in the picture. We have a key rack there for all of our keys as well as a treasure chest that holds other items you would take with you when you leave the house. We have a low rack for the little kids’ jackets, and the cabinet holds more jackets/ coats as well as some toy bins. Below the coat rack is a shoe basket. When you come in the house, you take them off, and when you are ready to leave they are by the door and ready to go. No more searching for lost shoes.

Today I am working on the garage, we got some of it done yesterday, but it needs a lot more work. Sometime soon I also need to go through the kids’ school cubbies. All their new stuff is sitting in piles in the dining room!
I think this smiley boy is going to help me with the school books
.

Looks great! I love yellow walls. So cheerful. And maybe it will help them be efficient with school work!
It looks awesome! You sure are a go-getter!
Your room is looking so nice! Do you actually school in it or is more for storing etc.?
Looks great!

Very nice! I like the color, it is airy and bright!
I luv the new color! I’m thinking of painting one of the walls in my dining room red, and my daughter wants her room painted aqua. I’m not sure if she’ll like it forever, but how much does a gallon of paint cost to cover it up, right?
WOw great makeover!
I like your cubbies and I am looking for something quite similar for our “school area” Could you tell me where you bought them? Or did you make them?
Ditto all the comments for the yellow. Good choice! It’ll be even nicer when the icky winter weather is threatening to make everyone crazy in February! LOL
The room turned out lovely! Great job!
It looks lovely!

Looks great. You can pick paint colors for me any time.
How could we get sick of such fabulous work and photos? More, more! It looks fabulous!
It looks so nice. Good job.
Your school room looks fantastic. I hope when we move into a new home I get a school room. And I might just pick this paint color on purpose…good choice, even though it was for frugality.
Looks great!
Great Tackle!!
I love that table set! It looks both loved and like it could last forever…or at least a long long time!
Where did you find that?
Forgot to say that I love yellow for walls-esp a soft yellow like that appears. Nice job!
I am going to go peek at what else you’ve been decorating!
Isn’t it amazing how much a can of paint can transform a room from something lifeless into a vibrant place? Love the makevoer…starting to get the itch to change paint colors in several of my rooms…lol! By the way, your schoolroom is lovely. I am starting homeschooling next year and I hope to have a portion of the garage converted for our schoolroom. Another room to pain!
Oh and I forgot to say that you have an adorable little boy…love his smile
Makes you want to grin right along with him!
