New maps! Again, no particular definition is applied. By “new”, I should mean perhaps recent or relevant. The age varies: Political maps of course ten to get outdated pretty fast, as perhaps do, in many cases, economically, demographically, etc. themed maps. Other types of maps, such at geological sorts of maps, may take longer to become outdated – probably only when a newer map is issued, rather than an actual change in the land itself in this case.
I am going to order these maps by type and date, but primarily by type. The complexity will grow as I go along.
Digital Elevation Models
ETOPO1 – Global DEM coverage dataset at 1 arc minute intervals. From the U.S. National Geophysical Data Centre. there are also lower resolution coverages at 2 arc minute and 5 arc minute intervals.
