goodriddance

Good Riddance Are Reuniting

In an exclusive interview with Alternative Press, punk rockers Good Riddance revealed that they will be reuniting to play shows together! These will be their first shows in five years. No new music is to be expected but have not ruled it out completely.

Check out a segment from the interview below and head through the link for the entire thing. What do you think of Good Riddance’s comeback?

How much had you all kept in touch over the past five years? When did the reunion talks among the band begin to get serious?
Various members have stayed in touch over the last several years. Chuck and I did some Creep Division shows and occasionally I’ve played solo shows with his other band(s). Luke and Sean have remained in contact and have played music together as well. We have been approached dozens of times to reform and play and we never paid much attention until recently. We just miss playing a lot of the songs and we feel like we have the collective availability for the first time in a while to actually be able to do this.

Sex, Drugs, And Bubblegum Pop (Week 33)

Sex, Drugs, And Bubblegum Pop is the most outlandish column on UTG. Written by Mr. Jayce, vocalist for Secret Secret Dino Club and all-round funny guy, this column isn’t as much about the music as it is the experiences people in the music industry have.

WARNING: This column does and will continue to contain content some readers may find offensive. If you don’t have a sense of humor, this column is probably not for you.

There has been a big transition in my life over how I view the value of songs and music. It probably has to do with the people I keep in my company, and just growing up. The way my brain operates and the things I find important are drastically different now than they were when I was 17, but I would hope everyone would feels that way. Read more »

Punch Brothers

REVIEW: Punch Brothers – Who’s Feeling Young Now?

Artist: Punch Brothers
Album: Who’s Feeling Young Now?
Genre: Progressive/bluegrass/classical/acoustic
Label: Nonesuch Records

I remember writing a line in a review before in which I referred to my musical world of “rock meets metal meets Mozart.†Well, the latter third of that triumvirate is so, so incredibly pleased with this album and band. Yes, I’m sorry to say I was unfamiliar with Punch Brothers before today. These are the classics, embraced for a new generation, in the most divinely loving and refreshing and beautiful way. The music is so effortless it’s magical, and there’s an understated class and mastery that coats everything here in pure gold. Read more »

kill paradise

REVIEW: Kill Paradise – The Glitch

Artist: Kill Paradise
Album: The Glitch
Genre: Synth-pop/electro
Label: BreakSilence Recordings

Kill Paradise mix elements of pop-punk, synth-pop, and electro in this colourful release. It’s a sparky blending of genres that manages to be mostly interesting, though one is left with a distinct lack of impression in its wake. For all its fun and frolics, it feels insubstantial, like a great pile of experiments with no real purpose at their core. But it is enjoyable, light-hearted listening, music that does its best to enlighten your day with something kooky. Read more »
