Meanwhile the World Wide Web was coming around at that time and I just got sucked into that. Sergey Brin and Larry Page were running a searchengine out of Stanford. These 21-year-olds would come in and make demands on me – we need more disk space because we are crawling the Web and its getting bigger, we need to buy more disk… I’d give them more money and they’d go buy more disks.

At some point these guys said, we want to go do a company. Everybody said you must be out of your minds.There are like 37 search engines out there and what are you guys going to do? And how are you going to raise money, how will you build a company, and these two guys said, we’ll just do it and they went off and did it.And there are some big names who supported the company in its early stages. And then they took over the world. And right now, you know,other search engines do not even compare. It is just amazing.

Microsoft.Net goes Open Source after Sun did it for Java

Some hot news for Microsoft Fans and Developers using the .Net platform. Microsoft is open sourcing .NET framework libraries.

We’ll begin by offering the source code (with source file comments included) for the .NET Base Class Libraries (System, System.IO, System.Collections, System.Configuration, System.Threading, System.Net, System.Security, System.Runtime, System.Text, etc), ASP.NET (System.Web), Windows Forms (System.Windows.Forms), ADO.NET (System.Data), XML (System.Xml), and WPF (System.Windows). We’ll then be adding more libraries in the months ahead (including WCF, Workflow, and LINQ). The source code will be released under the Microsoft Reference License (MS-RL).

You’ll be able to download the .NET Framework source libraries via a standalone install (allowing you to use any text editor to browse it locally). We will also provide integrated debugging support of it within VS 2008.

When you debug a .NET application and hit a breakpoint in your code, you’ll now be able to see a debugger call stack that contains detailed file and line number information for the .NET Framework classes and methods in your application:

I hardly find time to watch tv these days. I was watching Aek Chaabi Hai Pados Mein on Star which is a nice family entertainer. She plays the Female lead in the serial. I have seen her on so many other ADs these days. But did’nt know her name. There’s not much I could find about this future bollywood heroine

Akamai CDN Prices – the Battle Continues

The Content Delivery Network Market is hotter than ever now. The number of websites delivering content to a Global Audience is on the rise.

I came across an interesting post my Om Malik in this context.

Akamai Technologies (AKAM) has lost over $3 billion in market cap in the last one month due to increased costs and reduced prices due to heavy competition. Akamai has a presence in India as well with a lot of Indian websites thronging them for collocation. A long time customer of Akamai in India is rediff.

VSNL ,Bharti, Reliance, Sify have their data-centre businesses but the costs are to high. VSNL has been there for a long time .

I would debate later on the difference between partnering with a CDN Vs getting up A Dedicated Server Cluster.

Will be interesting to watch how CDN players / prices perform in the current web2.0 scenario.

Online Video is currently booming and broadband penetration is also rising.

Windows Server 2003 is old . Over 4 years old. Looks like the folks at Microsoft are testing out Windows Server 2008 at their main site
This was the info i got from the HTTP response of the site

Will AJAX.Net be a hit ?

M$ released AJAX.Net earlier this week. It was called Atlas earlier.

Pototype,Dojo, Scriptaculous have been around for some time now and have large user base.

This may be Microsoft’s attempt to make Entreprises sing the Ajax song.

Will be worth watching the adoption rate of this framework

Google is going to join the domain registration bandwagon in a bid to attract more users for its Google Apps for your Domain .
