Carly & Damon picked a perfect evening for their engagement session in Stanley Park. We had a great time wandering the seawall, and I can’t wait to follow this up with their gorgeous Grouse Mountain wedding that took place just weeks later.
Hi there! I’m Jana.
Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions when planning your wedding. You want to make sure you’re choosing a photographer whose work you connect with, but just as importantly, whose personality you connect with. I know it’s not easy to get a good feel for who somebody is through a website, but hopefully through reading about my experiences and my stories, you can get a peek into my life. I hope that with this blog I can give brides & grooms, their friends and family, and everyone out there a better idea of who I am and what I love to do.
Wedding photography is my passion. It’s my dream job, and I love what I do. I do, after all, get to spend most of my weekends celebrating with gorgeous, glowing people on one of the biggest days of their lives. I like to think that that passion shows through my work, and in the relationships we form. I believe in creating fun, fresh and honest images filled with emotion that tell the true story of your wedding day. Send me an email at jana@winkphotography.ca to tell me more about yourself and what you’re looking for. I can’t wait to hear more about your big day!
Interaction is welcome, so please don’t be shy! I hope to hear from you. Happy perusing!

Q. My wedding doesn’t fall into your thoughtfully designed offer. Does that mean you don’t want to hear from me?
A. Absolutely not! Meaning, it absolutely does not mean that not absolutely we do not want to hear from you. If you’re half as confused as we are by this answer, then please contact us anyway and we’d be happy to talk about your day.
Q. Who will be providing the hair and makeup service? Please don’t tell me it’s your sister or something.
A. Well, this is awkward. It actually is Jana’s sister but fortunately she’s also the extremely talented owner of Glamourpuss Mobile Makeup www.glamourpussmakeup.ca
Q. What if I don’t need hair and makeup service for my wedding?
A. If that’s the case, you’re going to need another package! Contact us and we can discuss a package that will better suit your needs.
Q. Do you offer albums and prints?
A. We’re so glad that you hadn’t yet asked this question but we thought to ask it for you. Yes we do! In fact we believe so strongly in the value of having a tangible record of your day that beginning in Spring 2012 all of our packages will include at least one custom designed album. We’re also happy to add any additional offered services to this package, such as photobooth, extra hours, etc.
Q. What if you’re already booked for my date?
A. Tough luck! That’s why we’re offering a special to fill in our remaining dates. okay, that came off a little harsh… Do not fret! We have a network of other photographers that we trust to refer you to who might still be available.
Q. Why aren’t these FAQs very helpful?
A. We brainstormed these over a couple of glasses of wine and as was mentioned above, no one has had an opportunity to ask any real questions yet. But thank you for taking the time to read them.

Okay, he may have paused to rest his eyes just for a second. It’s a lot of work being 10 days old!
Oh! I’m back!
Aaaannnd…..done.

A few months back I posted a quick teaser of Anna & Rob’s “labour” session. I call it that because she ended up being in early labour during our scheduled maternity shoot (and had the baby less than 24 hours later). Anna decided she wanted to do the shoot anyway because it would be good to walk and laugh a little to keep relaxed. You would never know by looking at her face that this woman is in any pain. I doubt I’ll be marketing “Labour Photography” anytime soon, but it sure was fun!
Newborn post to follow!

I honestly never really noticed babies before, until I had one. It was like that part of my brain just didn’t exist, and since having Quinn I’ve become the crazy woman on the street stopping and cooing at strangers’ babies.
This new found appreciation for tiny people has also developed into a love for photographing them. I especially love capturing the little moments between a brand new family in their first weeks together. Now that I’ve been through it, I realize how incredibly important it is. Especially because I didn’t do it myself. Typical photographer, never gets her photo taken. I was too tired, hadn’t showered, still felt huge….what was I thinking. When you look back on photos of yourself with your brand new baby, you’re not focusing on a hair out of place…you’re mesmerized looking back on a time that seems surreal because it all happened so fast. Then in an instant that little sleeping ball of snuggles is a walking talking member of your family.
Appreciate every moment…which there is plenty of time to do when you’re not sleeping. ![]()
Anyway, this is sweet little Tessa.
