Q. My wedding doesnâ€™t fall into your thoughtfully designed offer.Â Does that mean you donâ€™t want to hear from me?
A. Absolutely not! Meaning, it absolutely does not mean that not absolutely we do not want to hear from you.Â If youâ€™re half as confused as we are by this answer, then please contact us anyway and weâ€™d be happy to talk about your day.

Q. Who will be providing the hair and makeup service? Please donâ€™t tell me itâ€™s your sister or something.
A. Well, this is awkward. It actually is Janaâ€™s sister but fortunately sheâ€™s also the extremely talented owner of Glamourpuss Mobile Makeup www.glamourpussmakeup.ca

Q. What if I donâ€™t need hair and makeup service for my wedding?
A. If thatâ€™s the case, youâ€™re going to need another package!Â Contact us and we can discuss a package that will better suit your needs.

Q. Do you offer albums and prints?
A. Weâ€™re so glad that you hadnâ€™t yet asked this question but we thought to ask it for you.Â Yes we do! In fact we believe so strongly in the value of having a tangible record of your day that beginning in Spring 2012 all of our packages will include at least one custom designed album. We’re also happy to add any additional offered services to this package, such as photobooth, extra hours, etc.

Q. What if youâ€™re already booked for my date?
A. Tough luck! Thatâ€™s why weâ€™re offering a special to fill in our remaining dates.Â okay, that came off a little harsh… Do not fret! We have a network of other photographers that we trust to refer you to who might still be available.

Q. Why arenâ€™t these FAQs very helpful?
A. We brainstormed these over a couple of glasses of wine and as was mentioned above, no one has had an opportunity to ask any real questions yet. But thank you for taking the time to read them.

Aileen & Kelvin were married on Saturday and it was A-MAZING. It rained all morning but the clouds parted just in time for our urban photo shoot in New Westminster. I absolutely love the joy, love, and silliness this couple shares. While I was shooting the reception with a 2nd shooter, David was running the photobooth. He had such a great time with their family & friends and we just couldn’t wait to share.

Usually I tend to get a little chatty in my blog posts. Today I’ve decided to do something a little different and let the photos tell the story. (There are a lot of them!)

I’m very lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph Joanne & Chris’ wedding. Beautiful day + gorgeous couple + beautiful locations + lots of time for photos = a recipe for success. The real secret, though? We had a lot of fun. What a sweet couple, with a super fun wedding party, and fabulous friends and family surrounding them.

When I shot Stephanie & Woody’s engagement session, these two were dealing with long distance love, living on opposite sides of the country. Stephanie somehow managed to plan a wedding in Vancouver while living in Ottawa, with huge credit to Woody & their friends here. It turned out wonderfully, and these two are finally living married life together in Ottawa. Here’s a look at their fabulous day:

Sadly this is the last shoot I was able to do in one of my favourite locations of the city. What used to be a cool area of decrepit warehouses is now gravel pits and parking lots. I guess not everyone loves decrepit warehouses like I do.

Next my fabulous 2nd shooter Andrea Sunderland kept the wedding party entertained (or perhaps the other way around!) while I spent some time with Stephanie & Woody.

I like to think I keep things fun and easygoing during a shoot, because people should enjoy the time they spend with me on their wedding day. The last thing I would want is for the photos to be a chore. But I can’t take credit for most of the crack up laughing shots that occurred…it was all thanks to this guy:

What a great gift for a friend to give, essentially coordinating all their travel needs for the day. But it was much more than that. He followed along our photo walk in the car with the windows rolled down, taking requests for what to play on the stereo. Then at every location stop would hop out for a little dance party. During these next photos he’s actually standing next to me doing a booty shake for them. He’s hired!

I’m so glad my clients are willing to trust me in situations like this. Locations for great wedding photos aren’t always what you would suspect. Don’t worry, no white gowns were harmed in the process.

Stephanie graduated from UBC, so it was important to them to include some photos there before heading to the reception.

Gotta love games rigged to embarrass a groom at his own wedding! The blind taste tests involved Stephanie having to guess items like ketchup & mustard, while Woody gets Korean hot pepper sauce (ouch!) and grapeseed oil. The crowd loved it!

Best of luck to Stephanie & Woody in their new life in Ontario!

Angela & Trevor – Mountain Magic

It was a crazy busy season, so unfortunately the blogging of the images got put on the back burner for a while. Now it’s finally time to visit some great summer 2010 weddings!

Angela & Trevor were married at Grouse Mountain, and put SO much of themselves into their plans for the big day. Luckily they’re both super creative types, Trevor is a web designer and Angela is a comic book artist/writer. Angela spent countless hours creating all the details for the wedding, my favourite being the paper flower bouquets and boutonnieres. Some of the flowers are even made of comic book pages!

Angela got a good luck kiss (& fist bump) from her bridesmaid’s bird, then received a very special gift from her mother….a box of recipes that’s been handed down for generations.

If you’re thinking of doing a first look and photos before the ceremony but still aren’t sure….just take a look at these faces.

Time for a few photos outside their downtown apartment. I still can’t get over all these flowers!

And the extremely detailed boutonnieres.

These two are are big fans of the outdoors, so requested some time at Lynn Canyon before heading to Grouse. Angela came prepared.

Then at Grouse Mountain the couple took a quick helicopter tour. (They really accomplished a lot in 1 day!)

Ceremony time.

Sigh.

Seating plan and table numbers once again created by Angela.

I’m now convinced that every event should include a french man playing the accordian. (In a beret and scarf no less!)

Dad and Best Man put the finishing touches on their speeches, while the guests admire the new bling.

Speaking of new bling…

Let’s just look at that bouquet one more time.

Since it’s hard to resist a perfect summer evening, the party moved outside.

One of the most amazing surprises I’ve ever seen at a wedding, and a pretty impressive use of technology. Angela put a video on You Tube requesting submissions from her comic book fans and twitter followers to perform their song “Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip. She offered prizes to the winning submissions, and had clips from around the world assembled into a great little video. So incredibly thoughtful.
