This year I feel that numerous stars have come under fire for “copying” other artists. From Nicki Minaj jacking Lil Kim, Rihanna being sued by David LaChapelle for her S&M video,  Trey Songz jacking R. Kelly’s style and vocal arrangement. The list can really go on.

Now Beyonce’s “epic” Billboard performance of Run The World has come under fire for her “copying” Lorella Cuccatini’s Samero 2010 performance. If you are a real fan or music junkie, you will know that Beyonce and Destiny’s Child are notorious  of being “influenced” by other acts (large and small) and giving props to others most times after it has been exposed on the internet. (Sometimes they didn’t give proper credit at all.) I digress, Beyonce responded with the following:

Update: I am not trying to take anything away from Beyonce’s performance. I am talking about the difference between copying someone and being influenced by someone. The examples I posted above are just examples of individual’s who have been accused of “copying” this year.

My question is what is the difference from copying someone and being inspired by them? What is your opinion on originality and is it really dead? What is the difference between an artist, star and musician? I will post my thoughts later but I am interested to hear what you guys think.

So I guess T-Pain has decided to release his album after all.  Chris Brown and T-Pain duke it out to win a young woman’s love in this video. See who wins. When will Revolver, hit stores? Who knows.

Like many of you, I am not a fan of Beyonce’s new single Who Runs The World (Girls). The lyrics are very elementary, and all over the place.  Matter of fact, they remind me of an emotional chick who is on her period and going through love/hate mood swings. I really feel like this is the first song that Beyonce has ever written in her life and she just fell in love with it. There is no way that I believe The Dream sat his hamburgalar ass down and wrote this shit. I feel like he was the lyric clean up man. However, he did cheat on Christina Milian with a chick that was not cute, so I could be giving him too much credit. If he did write this shit…someone please slap him.

I digress; many sites are clowning Beyonce and laughing at her not skyrocketing to the top of itunes and billboard charts. I only thought blogs reserved this kind of hate for Chris Brown. Ha.  A plethora of sites are saying “Kelly Rowland is finally beating Beyonce.†However,  I feel that many sites forgot when Single Ladies hit the internet and many fans said “Beyonce, what are you doing?†Then the video came out, Single Ladies turned into a massive hit and had girls/women across the world in the clubs waving their hands in the faces  of men while singing “Oh, Oh, Ohâ€.

Unfortunately for men, Who Runs The World (Girls) will be no different. The sample song Pon De Floor by Major Lazer is hot. Anyone who knows this song can’t help but whine their hips to the hypnotic beat when the rhythm comes on. I don’t even like Who Runs The World, but I will tune Beyonce’s ass out to listen to the beat in the car.

Alright 5star fam, here’s the deal. With summer rapidly approaching, radio stations around the country are going to be searching for the next hits to dominate the airwaves from May – August. Thus, artists are going to be putting out dumbed down records with catchy, hip-pop hooks to attract the attention of the mainstream media.

It’s nice to see R&B artists collaborate. Here is the remix to Tank’s track Celebration from his album Now or Never. I am not sure if the original track, which features Drake has been released as an official single yet. However, it seems that Tank is aiming for the number 1 spot on Billboard Hip-hop/R&B charts with this track. Thoughts? Who brought it the most?

Side note: I miss Drake’s “Give it up one time” in the song. Ha.
