Ground Up – Heard About It f. Freeway

Here’s a single from Ground Up‘s upcoming mixtape The Get Up. And you know these guys are making moves with a beat from Roc Nation’s latest acquisition and a feature from Philly Freezer! If my last couple posts didn’t convince you of how good these guys are, this should do the trick. March 6th is the date people!

Since I’ve been away for a minute, I’ve been seeing a lot of Gucci Mane garbage  lately (smh). I’ll admit it bothered me, so I had to get some real ish up quick to save my 5 Star Hip Hop Heads. Oh, now this song is just dope. Inspired by the recent rebellions in Egypt, a plethora of artists, some famous, some unknown, came together to pen this ridiculously dope song. It’s a really great example of the relevance that hip hop music can have and proffers that most MC’s are not just obnoxious black men screaming into microphones. The tag #Jan 25 is a throw to the twitter hashtag that played a crucial part in getting the word out about the revolution. Now that Mubarak has officially stepped down today, the fate of Egypt is completely in the hands of the people. Let’s just hope that people like this can step up and let their voices be heard.

WHEW! This here is cold as hell! Oddz N Endz took the Mary J vocal from Cass’s “I’m a Hustla Remix” and Free went in over them.  Most the credit should go to Oddz N Endz though, whose production make the song a banger! First Freeway song I’ve liked in a good little while.
