Great tips for tools the “modern day” writer needs to have! I’d like to add one: A hand-held personal voice recorder. I carry mine with me whenever I’m away from my computer. With all the writing I do for blogs, websites, etc., I need a lot of fresh content, and ideas for content. Ideas strike at any odd moment, so when that happens, I record the idea instantly into my recorder. Back at the office, those voice snippets are transcribed to my “ideas” notes and journals. Without that recorder (I’m not a “pencil and notebook” type of person), a lot of good ideas I’ve had would have been lost.
