The Swift Boat is only part of a Bigger Fleet
on August 22nd, 2004 at 9:37 amWatching this whole swift boat controversy has been very sad and tiring to say the least. Many of us were either not born, or even too young to remember the Vietnam war, yet day after day we get to see these old soldiers duke it out over national television. President Bush has been somewhat quiet about the whole thing (why not, the ads are attacking Kerry, not him). Kerry, on the other hand, has been whining about the whole thing, saying that Bush is secretly behind the whole thing (could very well be true). Now Kerry has taken his whining to another level by reporting the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to the FEC (Federal Election Commission).

Uh, baby John-John, your crib isn’t exactly empty either.
If you take a quick look at opensecrets.org, you will see the toys (better known as 527′s – tax exempt groups that can push their political agendas on a broad scale, just as long as they do not endorse a particular candidate) that each candidate has to “play” with. Kerry has his full share of 527′s in his corner that have made it clear that they are far from being non-partisan (Move-on.org being one of the major groups). Yet the mainstream media will not even question him on this. You also have to take in consideration, Hollywood, The liberal media, and the music scene all seem to be on this “get Bush out of office at any cost” roll.
527s have no business having any involvement in the political process. These well- funded groups do nothing but add more drama to the process while overshadowing the opinions of the everyday citizen. In short, the 527 setup sends a very bad message to Americans: If you have lots of money and political connections, your voice can be heard. If not, then you are up the creek without a swift boat.
