It depends on the woman and her support system. I know my wife couldn’t do good enough job. I try to get him to “man up” even at 2 1/2 but she has other ideas.

“He’s just a BABY!!!!”

True, but allowing him to be afraid, NOW, makes things worse later.

Or after falling, sometimes I still have to hold her back to encourage her to tell him to “just get up and wipe yourself off.”

MY biggest fear is teaching him how to stand firm, hold his ground, and defend himself. Back in the day, you battle and even if you lost, you got some respect if you stood your ground and handed out some serious licks.

Now?

People pull out a pistol and start shooting.

I don’t know HOW to handle this, because if you just say back down, life gets REAL hard from then on.

Our kids have no advocate in that department with my wife. If she ever tells me to chill with the kids (which is probably one in a blue moon), I know I am being too hard on them. Your son will thank you later.

As to the question itself, I agree. I think it all does depend on the woman and the support system around her. I know (and have known) plenty of 2 fisted men out there who only had a mother in the home. But of course if you were to ask them if they could have done better with having a father in the home, many of them would answer ‘yes’.

I agree regarding the mother and her support system. I am raising a son on my own. I was in the Army and my mother will tell me I should “lighten up, he’s not in the military.”

I know there are many things young Black boys and men are doing that has nothing to do with not having a man. They don’t have respect, they aren’t good HUMAN BEINGS.
