ESPN highlights available here.
The Gist: Jeremy Bonderman avoided a serious first-inning problem by yielding “only” two runs. Then he was all business: 7.2 innings pitched, five hits, the aforementioned two runs (both earned) and, oddly enough, just one strikeout. Placido Polanco appears to have caught fire in New York, highlighted by two home runs on [...]

The Gist: It had its dicey moments — not the least of which was Kenny Rogers walking the bases loaded in the third — but the Tigers showed some grit in a 6-4 win over the Yankees in the Bronx. Rogers earned his second straight win and limited the Yankees to two [...]

So what do Jason Grilli, Zach Simons, Jack Burns and Chief Hogsett have in common? They are the only players in Tigers history to be involved in a trade on April 30.
By now you’ve heard about the Grilli-to-Colorado trade, but you probably haven’t heard about the April 30, 1936 trade that sent LHP Hogsett to [...]

Kenny Rogers pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4. He also walked 4, three of which were in the 3rd inning which loaded the bases. He was able to get out of trouble by getting Robinson Cano and Johnny Damon to fly out to left field.

The Gist: The anticipation of seeing the Tigers’ complete lineup for the first time all year was squashed and the Detroit Momentum Train was derailed by a stellar pitching performance. This time by the Angels’ Jered Weaver: two runs, four hits and four walks and struck out five over 6.1 innings. The result? A 6-2 [...]
