The ace gets his first!

The Tigers pounded out an 11 hit attack, including 3 home runs, that propelled them to a 10-2 win over the Texas Rangers in front of a paid attendance of 33,629. Justin Verlander got his first win of the year as he pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 run and 6 hits.
Jacque Jones contributed with a triple and a double which is hopefully a sign of things to come. The Tigers also got 2 home runs in one inning for the first time this season in the 3rd when Magglio Ordonez and Miguel Cabrera hit back to back jacks off starter Vicente Padilla, and Ramon Santiago hit his first home run of the season later that inning. For Magglio, that home run gave him 250 for his career and 1000 RBI.Â
After the Tigers added 3 runs in the 8th, fans could relax going into the 9th, even with Jason Grilli on the mound. The biggest thing I came away with tonight from this game was that Mr. Verlander showed he can have his good stuff working.  Even though the Rangers are struggling, we have seen Justin have problems with teams that on paper the Tigers should beat. I believe he will build on this outing and move ahead with confidence in his coming starts.Â
