They Can Do It Against the American League, Too

Well the Tigers did very well in interleague play, and they won their last six straight series.  My thought was that they need to do the same thing against their American League foes, especially those in their own division.
Tonight they had a good come from behind win.  In the seventh inning, Placido Polanco and Carlos Guillen [...]

Are The Good Times Back?

The rain did not spoil a good game last night as the Tigers won their fourth in a row.  Armando Galarraga pitched brilliantly over 7 innings. He gave up one run on 3 hits, allowed one walk, and struck out 5.  Freddy Dolsi finished up with 2 innings of perfect relief to get his second [...]

Game 66: A Sweep of the Sox

OK. Before this series I said that the Tigers could have been swept by the White Sox. I believe a lot of you shared my sentiments. I don’t mind admitting that I’m wrong.
What a series this was!
The Tigers were able to get three great pitching performances including today by Kenny Rogers. Miguel Cabrera finished things in dramatic fashion [...]

Completing It

Justin Verlander pitched the first complete game by a Tiger since his no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers one year ago tomorrow.  He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, struck out 3, and did not walk anyone.  With the 5-1 win the Tigers have won this series against the White Sox.
The run scoring was highlighted by [...]

Gain A Split, But Here Come The Sox

The Cleveland Indians are 2 1/2 games ahead of the Tigers as they leave tonight to go home to Northeast Ohio. The Chicago White Sox have won 7 out of their last 10 games, and they are coming tomorrow to play our team who has lost 6 out of their last 10. What this means is that the [...]

Winning Despite The Errors

After Edgar Renteria hit a grand slam in the eighth inning to give the Tigers an 8-3 lead over the Indians, Tiger fans at Comerica Park was elated and happy as it solidified a victory for their team.
It looked like it was going to be a different story earlier in the game. In the second inning with [...]

Help

What else can I ask.  The Tigers again showed a lack of offense, although it was nice to see Jeff Larish get his first major league home run.
The team is on a 4 game skid which has found them a season high 12 games below .500 and 10 games out of first.  They have found a [...]

Good Ninth Inning Comeback

It was nice to see that the Tigers did not lie down against J.J. Putz in the 9th inning yesterday.  After Ivan Rodriguez struck out, Brandon Inge drew a walk to start the rally.  Curtis Granderson singled to move Inge over to third, and Placido Polanco singled to right to bring Inge home.  The Tigers then [...]

Can’t We Get A Relaxing Win?

The Tigers cruised through a good part of this game, but in the 9th, the Mariners scored 4 runs to cause Jim Leyland to bring in Todd Jones.  The last three games in Arizona were anything but relaxing as I was nervous almost on every pitch.  I thought tonight the Tigers would get the first [...]

One Of Those Nights

Livan Hernandez had command of his pitches and the Tigers on this night. Magglio Ordonez hit a long home run in the second, and the team loaded the based with nobody out in the same inning, but then Ivan Rodriguez hit a short fly ball to right on which Miguel Cabrera did not attempt [...]
