Only the Creative Will Survive

After a good quarter century of focus on cost-cutting and efficiency, a new era of business thinking is emerging – an era of creativity. And thankfully, it’s picking up quickly. Since Tom Friedman’s hypothesis that America’s luxurious cash cow of low skill labor is enjoying its last years of life, ambitious people are talking about bold new learning. Not retraining, but learning.
David Armano, in his post, Logic+Emotion: Creativity 2.E, lays down some solid guidance for adapting to a world that constantly demands better solutions. It’s the sequel to the Total Quality Management era. Whereas in TQM, the goal was to make something good enough, then flood the market with the resulting product or service, Creativity 2.E thrives when people from multiple disciplines play in other people’s disciplines. He’s dead on, noting that in order for this to work, “Ego’s need to be unlearned.”
