Garmin going mobile. iPhone winning design?

 It seems lately there quite a few companies “knocking off’ the iPhone design. See the image below of the new “Nuvifone” by Garmin. We’ve seen this design from HTC and others too. The question is, will they include the multi-touch technology that powers the iPhone, and that I believe we will see in ALL electronics of the future? Yes, I believe in the very near future our PC’s and Laptops will have true multi-touch technology (you’ll be using your fingers on the screen to edit photos, open emails, select music etc..) I think the iphone design is a good one, and we’ll see more of this from other manufacturers.

Here’s another interesting thought.  Garmin is positioned to be a player in the mobile space. All GPS based companies are. Google is focusing on location-based services with Android, Nokia bought Navteq for $8B last yr, and obviously values this space. Most importantly, consumers WANT location-based services. Garmin already has an intense GPS mapping DB, satellites working for them, and could come at the market quickly with these services…maybe they are?
