The Lie Of “An Outward Sign Of An Inward Grace”

Many people in the denominational world are taught and believe baptism is merely an “outward sign of an inward grace.†They do not believe baptism is essential to salvation. Rather, they say, all one need do is believe to be saved. Baptism is simply an act by which a person declares his or her salvation.

The problem with this is it is a lie; a lie believed and perpetuated by many; a lie that will lead to millions of lost souls.

Simply read what the Bible actually says.

“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned†(Mk. 16:16).

“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized  in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit†(Acts 2:38).

“Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord†(Acts 22:16).

“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ†(Gal. 3:27).

“There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism…†(1 Pet. 3:21).

Can there be any question about the role of baptism in the salvation of the soul? Is it essential or not?

Next, think about this. The way the denominations teach it, baptism today is nothing more than a ceremonial rite. It is like the “tradition of the elders†practiced by many Jews in Jesus’ day. He condemned them for such (Matt. 15:1-9). So, modern religions that teach the observance of ritualistic rites are no different.

In an attempt to be more “grace†full, the denominations are more “rite†full—pharisaic.

Baptism, according to the New Testament, is an essential part of conversion. It is where a person’s faith appropriates God’s grace.

In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead (Col. 2:11, 12).

Don’t believe the lie “baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace.†Have faith in God’s word that baptism is for the remission of sins. Now, do it.
