JOHNSON – Ruth Elizabeth (Willes)

Ruth Johnson beloved wife of Ross Johnson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her home in Calgary, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the age of 86 years.

Ruth was born on October 24, 1923, in Edmonton, Alberta. After a short career at the Edmonton Journal, Ruth married Ross and then stayed home to raise their three children. She was active in their church, Delton Baptist and then Delwood Road Baptist Church in Edmonton. They moved to Red Deer and then Calgary to be close to their family. Two of Ruth’s favorite phrases were “If I’d known grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first.†and “Old age isn’t for sissies.â€

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ross; her children Myrna (Jim Glenn), Kevin (Wendy Gardiner), Garth (Dana Johnson), and her grandchildren Cliff, Erik, Tanis, Greg and Kara.

A Memorial Service will be held for Ruth at Varsity Bible Church (4807 Valiant Drive N.W., Calgary, AB, 403-288-1121) Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. I just wanted to say that we will miss our dear ‘Aunt Ruth” alot as she taught us the value of family and how important that families and extended family are. I know that she is at peace now with her Lord and her family in Heaven.

We’ve lost touch over the years but Kim and I will always have fond memories of the time we had with the both of you growing up, especially up at the lake.
