I love livÂing in Kitchener-Waterloo (K-W). There’s pretty much everyÂthing one could want here. Well, a betÂter art gallery would be nice…
Music is espeÂcially big here. The area has proÂduced some pretty good Jazz and Blues peoÂple, and this gets celÂeÂbrated in the sumÂmer. Last month, it was the WaterÂloo Jazz Festival.
This past weekÂend, DarÂbella and I spent 20 plus hours at the KitchÂener Blues FesÂtiÂval.
Here are some shots:

This is a big event — 12,000 plus show up for the headliners.
FriÂday night Shawn KellerÂman rocked the house, as did speÂcial guest Lucky PeterÂson. You can lisÂten to samÂples on both links. AmazÂing dudes and a terÂrific concert!
SatÂurÂday, among othÂers was perenÂnial favorite “Papa Johns Band,†but the highÂlight was Eric BurÂdon and the AniÂmals. I’m datÂing myself to admit growÂing up lisÂtenÂing to his music. NatÂuÂrally, he did “House of the RisÂing Sun†to close the show. NothÂing like an old rocker who can still bring it.
I rememÂbered the video camÂera today, and it was a good thing. Famous CanaÂdian rocker, and guiÂtar genius Jeff Healey was in the house, and despite an hour of rain, the street was packed for the conÂcert. I got you 30 secÂonds from his clasÂsic, “Angel Eyes.â€

What a great event! “Angel Eyes†and “House of the RisÂing Sun†bring back such memÂoÂries of a very difÂferÂent time.
Hey Beth,
Nice hearÂing from you!
I was amusÂing myself at all the ‘gray hairs’ in the crowd, rockÂing out and singing along. I even got a couÂple of ‘thumbs up’ for my dancÂing. InterÂestÂing times, those were.
The other thing that was interÂestÂing, and I wished I’d had my camÂera, was a group of 19-year-olds. The guys were in ““Blues BrothÂers†black, one guy had a fedora, and they were so into the music. There is hope for yet another generation!
