Skype president discusses security breach in China

Josh Silverman, Skype’s president, claims that the company was unaware that TOM-Skype, Skype’s partner in China, was logging and storing users’ instant messages that were deemed offensive by the Chinese government.

According to Silverman, the original policy of TOM-Skype was merely to block such messages, as forced by China local laws and regulations, and not to store them.

Skype Technologies S.A. is investigating on the issue.
