Carnival

I went to the West indies Parade today with the twins. And let’s just say there was a lot wiggling and jiggling. Lots of skimpy costumes and oozing fat. I know, I painted this great image and just spoiled it for you. Perhaps there was just too much flesh on display. Thank god for them it was another another episode of Silence of the Lambs. In the end there was great food with a lot of jerk chicken and fry fish.

Strange Plates Dinner

Tonight I went to dinner at E&R a Haitian restaurant over in Kensington. It was the inaugral Strange Plates dinner series put on by the Levy & Co. They’re the same folks that had put the 1 More Time for the 9 party back in June. It was interesting. Dinner with 12 strangers. I was probably one of the newer people. Everyone seem to know each other. And quite a few of them were tour guides. In the end it was good laughs and interesting conversations. But it is really funny how small the world is. It turns out the Levy brother’s had went to my high school a year after I graduated. And they live literally 5 blocks away from me. Small world, I have to say.

All About Numbers

It all boils down to mathematical breakdown of how much food cost. Everyone at work seems to be bringing their food in to save some cash. So fridge space is a commodity in our office. My summer intern had tipped me off to a deli that was selling Odwalla 3 for 5 dollars. At Whole Foods you get a half a gallon for 8.50 which equates to about four 15 oz bottles. So if I got three 64 oz bottles which would cost you about 25.50. You pretty much save about 5 bucks or so going to the deli. Now I’m just being neurotic. But I guess pinching those pennies can come in handy in the long run.

Where’s the Beef?

I went to Adelman’s Kosher Deli a corn beef sandwich. And it was so cheap. for about 9 dollars I got a sandwich and a salad. Pretty cool. Consider you pay a god 20 something dollars are Carnegie. The best part about it was there was no line. =)

Little Adventure

Psst.. Can You Keep a Secret. The twins and I headed over to try to get into La Esquina. We followed the directions to the tee. Surprisingly , the hostess was waiting at the door. Woo hoo! They were all booked up but if we just wanted to grab drinks it was all cool. So we walked through this Employee Only door, down the stairs, through the kitchen to this uber-hip bar/restaurant. Pretty old concept reinvented. It wasn’t that bad, but it was still very neat. Drinks were pretty much Manhattan prices. So it was not so bad. Then we headed over to LES, to get some grub at El Castillo. It was very filling and very cheap. We were going to go to Punch and Judy’s for a glass of wine, but they changed the whole layout. And they got rid of flights. And they had less choices via glass. I hate to say, but we’re outtie. Onward, we go. We head over to Verlaine, which was a lot bigger than I thought. Unfortunately, we also missed the happy hour special. Happy hour runs from 4 – 10 pm. Must keep this place in mind, with the $4 dollar Lychee Martinis during HH. In the end we ended at Burp Castle for some traditional Beligan Beer. With the food in tow, the twin and I were thoroughly stuff and heading straight into food coma.

Food Network

I’m so addicted to the Food Network. Please check me in immediately.

The 3 shows which have lead me to my demise. Unwrapped Good Eats Iron Chef

Unwrapped should stick to their snack foods and candy. As for Good Eats, Alton Brown rocks. Especially the fact he explains the importance of each ingredient. As for Iron Chef. Need I say more. Unfortunately, since it’s the last show I see before I go to sleep, I’m always hungry.

All About Chocolate

Brugge was such a quiet town. I finish running around in 3 hours. Spent a good 30 minutes looking for this quaint chocolate shop The Chocolate Line. It was mention in the holy backpacking bible the Rick Steve’s guide. And it was worth the 30 minutes. I had the most amazing piece of chocolate. Too bad they don’t ship.

All Those Hills

I am totally famished. Haven’t eaten since 10:30 this morning. And it’s already 7:30 pm. Can I say it’s time to chow. Going to head up to Fisherman’s Wharf to meet up with Cindy for an IN-N-OUT burger. Yum. I ordered 2 Double-Double, Strawberry milkshake, soda, and fries. Hmm.. Maybe that’s too much food. Not! I can’t believe I scarfed down that burger like there is no tomorrow. Guess I was a lot hungrier than I thought.

Feed me! ha ha. Onward we go. We headed over to Coit Tower. The city is so beautiful at night, especially when you’re so high up. Lombard doesn’t look that far. So we headed to the crookiest street in San Francisco. Can I say I can feel my thighs burning. Enough walking. We’re going to take the cable car back downtown. Weeeehhheee! Can I say I feel so sore.
