Rain or Shine

I woke up this morning pretty late. And right now, I’m just procrastinating. I really should be getting ready for my NYCares project. But I decided to check my dashboard to see what the weather was like today. It’s been raining for about 8 days straight. Just very bleek all week. But my friend AC summarized everything in a nutshell. I get an im message from AC this morning saying “Holy crap, there is sunlight and no rain.†Ha ha. Well got to go get ready

Gobble Gobble Day

Happy Thanksgiving everyone or I would prefer to say Happy Gobble Gobble Day. It’s either a turkey or a tofurkey. I woke up this morning and waited for a call from my friend. We were going to head over to Jay Senior Center to volunteer to serve seniors Thanksgiving dinner. We got there at about 11 am, and spent most of our time waiting. I was suprised that we got a special appearance from the Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. First thing, I’m thinking is this is going to be a photo-op moment. It was pretty nice. He is the first politician I met that didn’t lug a professional photographer with him. It very different. Unlike when I interned for Schumer. There was alway a camera man when he was in his office. This is back when he was just a Congressman. At about noon the show went on the road. Old people are funny. They were like squirrels. One woman was already throwing the rolls in her bag. Then they broke out the tupperware. And last but not least they came at us like vultures for some aluminum foil. You feel like they haven’t eaten in ages. They wanted more and hated to be cheated if they couldn’t have 3rds on the meal. Yes, you heard it right. Seconds are just not good enough.Strangely enough, it was very reminiscient of my college days. Except we use to take our food up to stir-fry. And squirrel away milk and cereal. But that’s what college students do.

Too Long

My baby is back. What the hell am I talking about. My beloved iBook. I could have picked up on Wednesday but my Service Repair Order form was at home. So I had to leave my iBook at Tekserve for another night. It has spent a total of one week there. They put in a new Superdrive because my old one was malfunctioning. I’m so glad I have AppleCare. I was climbing up the walls without my laptop. I realized I’m not really on the computer but I like the comfort of just lifting the lid and checking the weather, email, im and so forth. I am so glad it’s finally home, and I’m not letting it go. I know it’s pretty pathetic that I’m so attached to this inanimate object. But you’ll realize the pain when you have to part with your computer and be disconnected from the world.

The List

I rarely blog about work. But this was just too funny. Normally, it’s the darnest thing kids say. This one of those moments of “No She Didn’t. One of my co-workers couldn’t remember this band she’s looking for so she asked my other co-worker. Of course he promptly goes to iTunes. And immediately, she blurted out “isn’t there a list of white guy song.†Instantaneously, the whole office bursted out laughing. Talk about one of the best one liner quotes to remember.

Rubber Duckie

You’re the One I bet you’re saying what the hell. I sent out an email yesterday to my friends to see who wanted to go to the Million Dollar Duck Race at South Street Seaport today. Of course, I didn’t get many takers. Basically, you can adopt a duck to race for a chance to win $1,000,000, tickets on American Airlines and other great prizes. And it was to raise money for Special Olympics. A rubber duckie silly. I was sitting in front of Abercrombie & Fitch patiently waiting for one of the twins. They’re always late. We headed by the pier to see a big dumpster of 30,000 rubber duckies ready to deployed. It was pretty amazing. And definitely one of those days that I wished my digital camera was not on the fritz. The race began at about 6:15 and it was quite a sight. Some rubber duckies decided they didn’t want to race and slowly started floating down the Atlantic Ocean. Yawn I’m quite tired.

Soon after the festivities, we headed over to Little Italy for the San Gennaro festival. It was the same ‘ol same ‘ol. But we spent a good 20 minutes in front of Drown the Clown. It was quite humorous how he was insulting so many people to drum up business. In end he got dunked. Smile

Sudoku

I’m so hooked on Sudoku. Finally, there was a copy of the Metro. And I saw a Sudoku puzzle and thought I give it a gander. I read the directions which were poorly written. And I was trying to figure out how to play. My co-worker finally explains the game but he forgot the 3×3 square section. Can I say I’m hooked. I’ve been playing Sudoku online. Great another addiction.

Primary Day

I always forget not to call the twins before any election or primary day. Campaign, campaign, that’s their motto. Talked about getting double teamed before you hit your voting station. Well I lugged myself to vote early this morning because I really did not want to deal with the after work crowd. Afterwards, I was bombarded by people down the block to vote. Then I was trying to convince my friend P, to go shopping with me today. Well more like look around, ponder and put back on the rack. But she couldn’t come out to play because of primary day.

Too Short

I rarely if ever wear a skirt above my knee with heels to work. And for some reason today, I did. While I was walking back to the office from the gym, a suit passes me and said nice legs. scrunch nose As I tell this story to my friend EH, he promptly points out why doesn’t a cute girl hit on him when he walks down the street. I don’t know.

Off with My Hair

After work I stumbled into the Chistopher Stanley Salon to schedule my appointment my apprentice cut and color. It was definitely much cheaper than just making a regular appointment. Totally great deal. I also noticed that they had a postcard that encouraged you to leave a review about their salon on Citysearch. In exchange you will get 20% service discount at the salon on your next visit. Definitely, a good example of word of mouth. It does explain why they have over 169 reviews on Citysearch. Can’t wait till my haircut.

The Addiction Continues

Cable is such a bad thing. I just keep on watching the US Open on the USA Network. I’ve been watching the Agassi/Blake match since 10 pm. And John McEnroe has to shut up. Cause his commentary isn’t that funny. His brother Patrick is a much better commentary. Perhaps he doesn’t make snide comments during the match. Blake took the first two sets. And Agassi took the next two. Ending in 5th set. It’s so intense, that I dragged my laptop out to watch TV. So as I sit here I was chatting with a friend online from LA. As soon as I told him the score. He was like I’m watching. This is so good. I got to get offline to watch. Too bad he didn’t see the Sharapova/Petrova match yesterday. That was nuts. Crap, Agassi is winning. I’m so conflicted. I want him to win, but he’s won the Open before. It would be nice to see a new person like Blake. And Blake just ran around to hit a forehand winner. Can I say this is more intense then Harry Potter. Agassi just drop shot James Blake. Man, I wish I had tickets to this game. Agassi won. How disappointing.

Argh! Guess I’m going to be a walking zombie tomorrow morning
