Random Happenings

I’ve always felt very safe in Brooklyn. Until today. I was walking down Bergen Street with my friend MC when this tall black man in a mustard yellow suit shoved me and kept walking. It wasn’t one of those incidents when someone bumps into you because they didn’t see you. This guy had purposely shoved me. If I lost my balance I would have fell on the floor. I instantly had this WTF reaction. I didn’t do anything. I wasn’t even in your way. I must admit I’m a bit shaken right now. And I feel very distraught about the situation as a whole. Things would have been different if he had shoved me a block earlier since we would have been across from the police station. How can people be so angry and go around shoving random people on the street.

Blogger Dilemma

I think every blogger goes through this lull.  Unlike most bloggers, I prefer to blog anonymously.  I take great measures to try to protect my privacy.  But I still feel censored.  I don’t exactly write what’s on my mind.  Probably because I have friends that do read my blog every so often, and I don’t feel like offending them.  I do understand that a blog is sort of public forum, so if you put it out there to world to read then you really shouldn’t expect any privacy.  But for me it’s just a place for me to just vent.  I find that I prefer people to just stumble across my blog, and I don’t really even advertise it.  So now the question is do I just write what I feel, or shall I be careful with my words.  Well that’s still something up for debate.

Reflections

I find that when I’m on the train, my mind tends to wander.  Especially in the past 2 weeks.  It’s been about 9 years since my father passed and since I’ve been out of school.  Remember on your first job interview, your interviewer would ask you where you saw yourself in 10 years. It really is a trick question.  There is really no right or wrong answer.   It seems like a simple question, but it isn’t really.  I know I’ve strayed from my original pattern of though.  But really I started wandering about the road not taken.  If my father didn’t pass away, I would have been on the agency path.  Most likely working either at a marketing or pr agency.  Yes, I was one of those young pups. But I had to defer a few final interviews to keep my father company before he passed.  I have no regrets.  I just find it amusing how fate works. And how I’ve landed on my career path.  So am I where I thought I be 9 years ago.  I don’t know. But I’m happy that I have my friends and family.  That’s all I am most thankful for.

Heat Wave

*Yawn*  This sweltering heat just makes me so darn sleepy.  And our air conditioner at work decided to go on strike.  It said it refuses to work when the temperature is over 100. It figures.   Then the electricity for half my building blew last night for about 2 hours.  Of course, Murphy’s law continues.  I came into the office this morning to find out my room decided that it wanted to be turned into a sauna.  In a way it was a pretty humorous day.  Including walking into the kitchen to find my co-worker sticking his head in the freezer.  What can I say, it was a very hot day.  When you got on the train you get a blast of the cold AC welcoming you in. Then when you get off, you get whip lashed by the hot air.  All I can say is I’m glad that the NYC trains are fully equipped with air conditioners or my commute really would have been the hot commute to hell.

Damage Control

(Note: This is in reference to the last comments and the last 2 post The Movie Must Go On! and Do the Right Thing!)

I think you mean lucid.

I got one word for you DICTIONARY.

Not only does it give you the correct spelling for lucid, but it gives pronunciation, usage and the definition.

Click here, for the definition illucid

NOT!

If you weren’t such a coward, then you would put your name and proper email in your comment. Since you’ve lost the argument, I guess it for the sake of saving face (aka damage control). But you must think I’m an imbecile to not figure out the author of this comment.

Just admit your event did not go as planned and you had no excuses. Just be accountable, your event was disorganized. Why is that so hard to admit.

If you considered yourself a respectable publication, you wouldn’t have to stoop to a level of mud slinging. It’s rather juvenile and very grammer school. You only come off as a neanderthal. Perhaps it’s a certain level of professionalism you do not possess.

So if you want to fan flames, go ahead. It’s just traffic for me.

The Movie Must Go On!

My… my.. Is someone searching for all blog post for L Magazine via Technorati. Apparently, my little rant would be considered bad PR. Now that wouldn’t exactly have been good publicity for the first Summer Screen movie of season. Or perhaps, this is just reverse PR. Word of Mouth is killer.

So what, if the movie started at 9:45. It was suppose to start at 9pm as per their advertisement. Yet their was no disclaimer that anything was subject to change. Such as the food police at the arch. Yes, the food police who didn’t allow you to bring any food or drinks into McCarren Park Pool. And let’s not forget the bag check. Alas, that was not in the advertisement either. Oh pooh!

If you can perform a sound check then you can at least test the projector. I don’t exactly see them having any problems starting on time at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Movie with a View. Then again, they’re pretty professional. Perhaps the non-profits are better than these indie start-ups. If the hipsters don’t mind, I guess it’s okay. But I don’t know how long anyone would be able to deal with rowdy hipsters.

Scrabble This!

Normally, I be playing scrabble in the park with a group I met last year. But since I have not been able to organize a gathering. I thought I check out a meetup group.  Never again!  Why?  First, I play scrabble for fun. And some of these people just eat, sleep and play scrabble.  They are just ultra-competitive.  One woman definitely look forward to her monthly scrabble meets. While one woman was just massively uptight.  She was frowning for most of the match and looked like she was going to bite your head off if you contested her word.   They also preferred to use a regular scrabble board because they like the feel of the wood tiles.  Yo!  Get your mind out of the gutter.  I can on and on about my experience with this group.  But in the end let’s just say I’m not going back.

Viva la France or Not

I am no longer a happy camper right now. It was suppose to be Viva la France not Forza Azzurri. What the hell am I talking about. World Cup, of course. Now I’m going to have to wait another 4 years for the next World Cup. Why did Vieira and Henry have to leave the game. And don’t get me started on Zidane. He totally pulled a Roony. Was he possessed. Apparently, so! *Grumble* Well at least I finish 4th in the office pool. Not bad for someone that doesn’t know anything about footy. Sorry, I mean football. Fine, soccer. Well I must go back to sulking.

Home Sweet Home

I’m so glad to finally be back home. My 9:26 am train was delayed for 3 hours because of border patrol. Apparently, they had to question everyone a train in Rochester. Who would want to sneak into the country through Rochester of all places. There only a university, Corning or Kodak there. Anyhow, we got stuck in Albany again, because they had to detach some trains. By the time the train left Albany, the food cart was out of food. That never happens. I felt bad for the folks that had to continue their trip to Philly. Next time, I’m flying. I don’t care.

Attack of the Mosquito

There is one thing I hate about rain when it hot and humid.  The mosquitoes start coming out of the woodwork.  I woke up last night to find 3 mosquito bites on my arm.  Then I discovered the little rascal even bite my toe. Bah!  It’s itchy.  Well more numb.  Feels like I have frostbite.  Let’s just say if I see this mosquito it’s going to find itself spat.
