Katherine J. LaCarte, Phoenix, AZ., passed into eternal rest on January 31, 2009. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, to the late August and Agnes Shalanca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew LaCarte, who was KIA in Okinawa during WWII. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Jessie Marini, Theresa Zeto and brother Philip Shalanca. She moved from Philadelphia, PA to Phoenix, AZ in l978. Surviving her are sisters; Mary Bershee, Shavertown, PA., Lena Ceccoli, Audubon, PA, and Edith Stanton, Seal Beach, CA. Also surviving is her companion, Calvin Eady, nieces and nephews. Kay’s wishes were to be buried with her husband Andrew, at Punchbowl National Cemetery, Honolulu, HI. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5111 North Scottsdale Road, Ste #108, Scottsdale, AZ 85250.

Thyra Lee Tiny Jenkins, 93, peacefully passed away on June 30, 2008. Tiny was born in Memphis, Texas, November 3, 1914. Phoenix was her home since 1949. Tiny was preceded in death by her husband Marion A. Tim Jenkins. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery at 2300 W. Van Buren at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, July 5, 2008. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice of the Valley.
