Skip a commercial, go to jail

According to a story at Wired, a new bill is currently being debated in the Senate that is completely idiotic. The bill is HR2391, the Intellectual Property Protection Act, is meant to block copyright infringement in the digital age. One part that is totally absurd is:

under the proposed law, skipping any commercials or promotional announcements would be prohibited.

Fine, let me skip the gory/overly sexual parts to protect my kids. But making it illegal to skip commercials? WTF?!?! I guess Tivo, ReplayTV and VCR makers will have to disable the fast-forward buttons if this one passes.
